New Maps are Here NOW!

Yes, the new maps are HERE! They're all set up on our CoD2 server and ready for your enjoyment.


When you connect to our server, your system will download the necessary map files (this takes only a few minutes, assuming a good connection), and that's all there is to it. Everything is done automatically. This download is only necessary when new content has been added to the server, and it will only happen the first time you connect thereafter. Again, everything is done automatically -- you don't need to download and/or install anything from a website. If your connection gets "stuck" or "hung" while downloading a map, simply disconnect from the server and then reconnect.


The current maps include:

mp_moelingen: Formely known by the name mp_vith, this is a medium-sized map based on a small town in Belgium. One team must defend two mortar sites while the other team attempts to destroy them.

mp_flakbatterie: A large-sized map somewhat similar to Brecourt in feel. This map takes place in the open countryside, with plenty of small hills, depressions, bushes, trees, and small buildings for cover. One team must defend two FlaK batteries while the other team attempts to destroy them.

bfe_bowvay: A large-sized map centered around a village in France. This map takes place before dawn; the sun hasn't risen yet, and there is plenty of mist. One team defends two objectives within the village while the other team assaults from outside of the village.

mp_v2: A medium-sized map that involves a LOT of CQB. The action takes place in a V2 rocket facility, with one team defending a V2 rocket and a radio while the other team attempts to destroy them. There are many doors that can be opened and closed manually, so the potential for SWAT-like room clearings is significant.

waterfall: A medium- to large-sized map that takes place in a French village. A mined river splits the village in half, with bridges and tunnels connecting the two sides. There are plenty of spots for snipers to roost, and there are plenty of houses and buildings for use as cover. One team must defend a bridge and a cache of supplies while the other team attempts to destroy them.

mp_anzio: A medium- to large-sized map that provides a rough recreation of the Allied landings at Anzio. This map takes place at night, with one team starting near the water on the beach and attacking the town and the two objectives beyond. The other team starts emplaced within the town and must defend the two objectives.

mp_baldy1: Also known as The Hunt, this is a large-sized map similar in feel to Pursuit 5, but without the darkness and the limited visibility. One team attacks across hilly, sprawling terrain, maneuvering in daylight to destroy two objectives within a small fortified base. The other team starts in or near the small fortified base and must defend the two objectives.

mp_st-gatien: A medium-sized map set within a small French village. One team attacks through the village, attempting to destroy a fuel cache and a FlaK battery. The other team must defend the two objectives.

mp_depot: A medium-sized map set in the cargo area of a major train depot in Germany. This map involves a lot of CQB, with plenty of opportunities for action across rooftops. One team attempts to destroy a tank and a tanker car while the other team defends them.

mp_assault: A large-sized map that is probably the best Call of Duty 2 map I've seen yet. Huge and gorgeous, this map is set in both the French countryside AND a French village. One team starts in the countryside and must make its way to the village, where it must destroy one of two objectives. The other team must defend the two objectives. An excellent map.

mp_benedictine: a large-sized map that recreates the demolished 1300-year-old Benedictine Monastery on the peak of Montecassino in Italy. This is a beautiful map, with many wide open areas, tight rooms and corridors, and overlooks. The assaulting team must wait through an initial artillery barrage, and can then attack from virtually any direction.

mp_docksv3: a medium- to large-sized map that takes place at a port facility in Murmansk, Russia. This map should accomodate both CQB and open assaults nicely, as it features an underground tunnel system as well as a wide open area above ground.

mp_tripoli: a medium-sized map that is based roughly on de_dust from Counter-Strike. This map should provide some nice CQB action for smaller teams, and while looking vaguely familiar to those folks who have played Counter-Strike it will likely play quite differently.

mp_n1v3: a large-sized map that takes place in the French village of St. Louet. This is actually a revision of a map from the singleplayer game, with many more routes added to create a solid map for the multiplayer game. We should see some nice CQB action as well as some good long-range action.

I will take Bridge out of our map rotation. Also, when the final versions of the beta maps we're currently running are available, I'll bundle them into a new map pack for our use.

Are there any maps we're running that folks are unhappy with (custom or stock)? If so, please list them here.

Good I always liked that map. It can get intense real quick. good choke points.

What do you guys think of Secret Airfield? I'm considering pulling it out of rotation in favor of another map(s), but I'd like to give it one more chance this Wednesday. I think it has potential -- it's a map that requires a lot of coordination and teamwork.

A new downloading scheme is in place for custom maps, which will make your downloads shorter. Our server is now set up with several map packs, each about 25MB in size:

Map Pack 1
Map Pack 2
Map Pack 3
Map Pack 4

Each map pack contains three or four custom maps, depending on the sizes of the maps inside. Instead of downloading ALL of these map packs when you first connect to our server, you will now only download a map pack if it contains the map currently running on the server. So, for example, if you connect to our server while it's running mp_powcamp, you'll only download Map Pack 3 (because it contains mp_powcamp). You won't download any of the other map packs until the server switches to one of the maps they contain.

This should help alleviate the single large download folks were having to sit through, and it should also make it easier on those folks who only wish to join and play a few maps. Further, it will allow the addition of many more new custom maps without causing users to redownload the entire collection of existing custom maps, and it will allow easy removal of old custom maps from our server when necessary.

mp_omaha has been removed from rotation, while mp_anzio, mp_baldy1, and mp_st-gatien have been added to the map rotation. That makes for a total of 15 custom maps that we're running in our rotation right now, along with the largest of the stock maps.

Some great maps you guys got there. Still havnt played a few of them. Did you take mp_hunt off? Or was that the mp_anizo or sometthing. The one where you have to walk 10 minutes to get to the target, that one was alright.

Glad you're enjoying them!

The Hunt (mp_baldy1) is still in rotation. With more players, this map has the potential to be a lot of fun -- hopefully we can try it again next week if we have the numbers.

Well me and Gil played alot tonight... just one thing... The Hunt map isnt the best for a 1v1 . Just if you are wanting to play some 1v1 on TG server lol, make sure you don't play that map.
