Waterfall
I saw this map in rotation the other day and I wanted to share my honest critique on this map and maps like it.
I noticed right away that one of the bombsites was just outside the offensive team's spawn. This allowed them to reach the site, smoke and plant before the defensive team could even round the corner and get visual.
IMO...this is not in the essence of TG and allows for no tactical gameplay whatsoever. It simply becomes a race to the bomb site which always favors the offensive team.
It's my belief that any map with objectives that can be reached by the offensive force long before the defensive should not be considered for tactical gameplay. Defense should always be given the opportunity to establish itself before the offensive force nears it's objectives.
I'd definitely like to see this map removed from rotation.
My 2.

Re: Waterfall
Waterfall is a map that we've had on the server for a long time, although it hasn't been in rotation for quite a while. It was one of the earlier custom maps to come out for CoD2, so we ran it because it was something fresh. Now there are many more (and better) maps available.
I'll pull it off the server permanently when the next batch of new maps goes up. In the meantime, I can take it out of the map rotation.
Thanks for the feedback!

Re: Waterfall
Good call guys, that map was a PITA for defense, especially because they were the ones that needed to rush. It was fun a few times when we did win on defense and defused the bomb.

Re: Waterfall
Good call. Too bad we do not have some one who can mod maps and fix the problem. IMO it is a good map if that little detail was able to be fixed.

Re: Waterfall
Quake engine games save their "raw" map data into a file with a .map extension. You must then compile this into a .bsp file (with associated vis and light information), which is what the server actually runs. To make changes to a map, you need the original .map file, which most authors don't release. Think of it kind of like the blueprint from which a building is constructed.
