The longevity part is simply a prediction. 360 players are used to matchmaking and the culture of X-Box Live, while PC players... I'm not sure. They may or may not continue supporting it as long as COD4 has been going.
XB360 community will for sure be playing this until the sequel is dropped, so... there you go.
