    A Brief Review

So I went out and got it. I must have more $$$ than brains at this point in life but I figure... I spent a ridiculous amount of money for Fallout 3 and expansions so why not this one too.
Anyway, I finished the SP in about 5/12 hrs. All I will say w/o spoilers is that the story line is very similar to CoD4. It even ends the same. It's just more disturbing. Not just the one level that has been talked about either. The whole storyline is just really screwed up. It does look gorgeous and game play is smooth and not too linear. Not open world by any means but not terrible. All in all a decent SP experience.
I played MP for about 2hrs. It really is hard to describe w/o cursing and therefore violating the TG forum Tos. However, all the pre-release fears hold true.

    Lag: check
    25 kills = 10 minute rounds: check
    Matching: Joke
Severe Run & Gun n00bishness: check
Wait for server host: Smoke if you got 'em

About the only thing good I can say about the MP is that it kinda reminds me of playing Medal of Honor AA TDM. You can jump in, get some frags for fun and go back to work, Homework, or dinner with the wife. Without Mod tools, Ded servers, > 9v9, Rcon etc. It would never work as a true TG game. If IW ever does come around and provide these things the game does have potential. Map sizes aren't any worse than vanilla Cod4 ( at least the 3 that I played) and the sheer number of diferent weapons to choose from is just silly.

So, that's my take on it just in case anyone wanted my 2c.

I agree with Medic as well. I've only played FFA in the multiplayer so I can't chime in on the other gametypes. I think this would give us TGers a fieldday making this game sooo much better. It's too pretty and filled with goodies not to be a great title with dedicated servers, I might add. Fingers are crossed for IW to please the masses.

I enjoy the multiplayer on my PC.....it's not just 15 minute rounds of camping with a sniper rifle....or any rifle and waiting for the other team to move first so you can kill them. It is what it's supposed to be......FUN, to many people whine about not being able to play on a set server with set rules. If it was meant to be real they would issue you a real gun, pay you pennies a day, and there's no respawn available.

You've heard of Tier 1 and Seal team Six right?

You don't see any irony in posting that on tacticalgamer.com?

I don't find that post the least little bit ironic... it seems to me from time to time the community has discussed the disconnect between making the game "real" and "tactical" when we have defrags and respawning - even spawning on a beacon in some games.

I am all for having fun... within the rules of course.

Stop drinking the IW.net kool-aid. What's this 15 minute sniper crap? Neither were any of the bazillion dedicated servers available in COD4. Except they had many more players than 9v9 ("Ground War" mode).

Keep justifying that purchase for your console- I mean, uh, your "PC". Activision enjoys your money and the control they have over you. You realize the site you're a supporting member of is damaged because of games that take this step?

actually Gill our super duper "modded" server got so bad on maps we had to start limiting the number of snipers that were allowed on a team.....and thats on a TG server in the game MW2 which I played 3-4 nights EVERY week.....I seen the rise and fall of our "tactical" servers and even knew TG members that quit playing on our servers because we took the fun out of the game. So I will enjoy the FUN gameplay online that I am having while everyone here whines on how activision "wronged" them so badly yet they have no idea what the gameplay is actually like.

    Re: A Brief Review

you know ven.... im not trying to start a flame war and i think the last couple of posts have been good discussion, but do you realize that the reason why snipers were limited is b/c the people that were playing couldnt cope with not having one and EVERYONE carried one, where is TG in that game play??

just guessing too, which i really should with out all the facts, but alot of the reason that i heard threw the grape vine BEFORE i bought COD4:MW was that the servers no madder what mode or style of play they were playing were not TG standards along with some of the administration.

it has changed drastically even when i have played it but i dont know if you play other games here at TG, but if you did, you would see that the tittle was not TG no madder what they tried to do. it has come a long way and finally in my eyes is TG caliber, but as for MW2....... that is plain out RnG and consolfied, and what you have been explaining tells me that your that type of player and that is the type of game play that you prefer....no big deal it is how you game and how i game is totally different, but MW2 is a joke and will continue to be a joke here at TG until they (activision) come up to not only our stanards of games, but PC gamers EVERYWHERE.

    Re: A Brief Review

People make to big of a deal about the term "tactical" in the name. Yes, on TG we use tactics, but that is diffrent from real. If you want real, I hear the Arma2 server is always welcome to new people. However, the nature of many games supported by TG makes "Real" extreamly difficult. Granted, some games we take a lot further than some other servers, however, the nature of the game makes it so that it can be taken only so far. Weather or not we take it to far, I am not going to comment (as its off topic and a debate i do not wish to start.)

Now, it has been a VERY long time since I have been on the MW1 server, so i can not comment on how that server is. However, if someone wishes to play MW2 despite how (I am just guessing here) it is not "tactical" or "real," let them. Its there 60 bucks, they can do what they wish with it. I understand that you might disagree with there choice (I do as well, but am not going to criticize anyone for it, or hold it against them) but it is there choice. If they enjoy it, then good for them.
