so much for not being a console port

just found this and i thought i'd share it with you

This is basically the Modern Warfare MP .exe file extracted and translated into a text format using a hex editor. This way you can find any possible dvar/command in the game.

    Link to file: http://www.casualkilling.com/modules...p=getit&lid=35

Try searching the document for "xbox", looks like this game really is a port after all.

    Some examples:
006D9298: 'We suck as host - ending the game',0Ah,0
    0071EB98: 'set systemlink 0; set splitscreen 0; set onlinegame 1; exec default_xboxlive.cfg',0
    0070573C: 'menu_xboxlive_privatelobby',0

Did they ever say it wasn't a console port?
To be fair, I'd say that's pretty common with a lot of games.

If you think that's bad, check out Pro Evo Soccer's controller setup screen on PC:

You are correct Balfa those are common in COD 4 and COD WAW so it really just goes to show they have used the same structure they have been using in the past games. Heres a question for some one with the game. are there still .iwd files which are used to archive the game assets. It would be in a folder called main.

In the same vein as this, someone on the IW forums found things for the server list, lean and the console in the code, just disabled.

Yes, it only take a simple comment to make something in the script to not run. Like lean and console. Just so that you know every COD series game since the first one is just a mod thats basiclly it nothing more. Granted they did enhance the game engine with new features it is still the same game as the first Call of Duty.

One of the biggest problems is how are you going to compile the files need. It may be possible but it would take alot of work. Not to mention the fact that you may get sued.
Remeber ever game that you have is not yours, you pay your money to purchase a disc
and the company then grants you permision to use there product on your computer.
Read the end user agreement almost all of them say you do not have permision to reverse enginer there product. So dont get your hopes up.

Inasmuch CoD is a total conversion on the Quake 3 engine. In fact I'd say CoD1 is the most mod-ish of them all.

Well here's an even better way of thinking, the Call of Duty series is a Quake 3 mod that has been refined over the years to what it is today.

Yes there are. They look like parts to a large split archive. The naming convention is: "iw_01.iwd"..."iw_02.iwd" and so forth.
