Re: MW2 is not that bad!
After reading through this I decided to use my x-mas gift card to eb games and buy MW2.
I have to say I'm glad I did. Jmaker hit the nail on the head, the only thing wrong with this game is the lack of dedicated servers. Big C also is spot on, leveling and un-locking is really addicting. I'm not sure how the game will play out once most people have leveled up all their kits but for now it's fun.
Long term I don't think it will hold the player base on the PC like MW did simply because of the server issue. It can be hit or miss, yes there are cheaters but I have found that if you stick with the hardcore game modes the level of players is better, strange. Hardcore also seemed to have less smack talk and idiots.
If they ever allow some form of dedicated servers and a bit of admin support this game will be golden. Until then it's fun and something to pass the time.

Re: MW2 is not that bad!
^ Agreed.
I've been playing it a lot lately and there's a few more issues that I've seen. I guess the big thing that everyone's been complaining about is the 'care package glitch'. It's not so much a glitch or an exploit so much as just an oversight or bug on IW's part. When you're holding the care package marker in your hands you're able to run a lot faster than you would just carrying your normal weapon. Some would argue of course that would be the case since you're holding a small smoke grenade instead of a weapon. But isn't the weapon on your back?
Because of that 'bug', it seems every round I've played you'll have one idiot just running around the map as fast as he can knifing anyone he can find. People do that anyway with the Lightweight, Marathon, and Commando perks. But while holding the care package marker you're able to sprint significantly faster. Needless to say these 'knife sprinters' are incredibly annoying. They're on you before you know it, and if somehow you do manage to get a shot or two off you'll still die from the one shot knife melee.
Other than that the only other major issue I've seen is just general lag on any match I play. To me it just doesn't feel as smooth as it did on COD4 or WaW. Like Long Bow said, if this game had dedicated servers this game would kick ass. I also have not come across many cheaters yet, at least obvious ones with ridiculous k/d ratios.
All in all I'm still happy I bought the game. Trying to unlock all the weapon attachments is fun. That and there's so many emblems and awards to unlock as well. I guess that will keep people playing for awhile.

Re: MW2 is not that bad!
I, for one didn't prestige to extend the notion of extra play because you have to re-level etc. I know a lot of people did prestige because of the new emblems and titles (I like the ones I have already) and the new challenges + class slots. However, the game is still good as an arcade shooter. It's like CS:S, just without the bomb planting and strategy that you find on the TG server (For CS:S or MW1). But then again, 99% of CS:S is an arcade shooter like MW2.
In this sense MW2 did a good job in making a game you can jump into (unlike L4D2) anytime, play a few rounds, get that stress out by shooting some fools, and then break anytime to do something else.
A problem I'm seeing with more people playing in groups is that its really hard to find someone who can properly host a group larger than 6 people. That and groundwar is the only mode that supports a group of 7-9 players on the same team. And that IWnet and groundwar don't really agree when merging lobbies, often causing groups to split and thus having to be reformed (along with trying to find a game again).
As for the carepackage glitch, I doubt this will be patched anytime soon (or ever considering activision's attitudes), but I don't see this done as often as I see a cheater, which is maybe 1 in 8 games (where a cheater is obvious anyways). Everyone's saying just shoot the glitchers (or exploiters if you want to call it that), but most people cant judge the distance they need to engage them at because they dont have the commando knifing experience. Either way though, carepackage users still die from bullets, while cheaters are usually untouchable.
The biggest problem is still lag. There is no way a great west coast host can host for people on the east coast. Same for hosting in the US with EU people. The lag difference is just too great, and anything far away is generally 250-350ms (west to east coast), when it should be more like 90-140ms. Unlike valve games, lag compensation is just not up to par here, or maybe its the hosts. Plus IWnet doesnt have the best net code logic for a $60 game.

Re: MW2 is not that bad!
Guys guess what? If you reach the 6th prestige, you get an extra killstreak award slot.

Re: MW2 is not that bad!
I don't think that's true. Where does it say this? I did a quick google search and found this:
Yahoo Answers says you get it at 5th prestige. However, the comments in the yahoo answer (which are hidden), says the wiki page was hijacked and that no killstreak extras are added.
All other forum posts and stuff say that this is not true, and that a 4th killstreak, or new kill streak, or additional perk slot, or anything is false. Also, judging by how people rank hacked their own profiles, I've never seen a mention of extra perks/killstreak/anything useful.
http://callofduty.wikia.com/wiki/Prestige does not list it anywhere.

Re: MW2 is not that bad!
I have never done the prestige thing, it takes me to damn long to get to rank 70 to begin with. Though ranking up in MW2 seems quicker due to all the challenges etc. So maybe I will have to give it a try for fun / headaches
