Exclamation ANNOUNCEMENT: Supporting Member Reserve System Info

We'd like to make a official annoucement that the supporting member reserve kick program is operational, up and running. It seems to be working like a charm right now.

What does this mean?
It means, if you are a supporting member, and you have your GUID in your profile here @ TG you will not have to ask a admin to kick a non-supporting member for you.

How does it basically work?
Basically, the server will still be full at 18/20, why you ask? Well the reserve kick script needs a empty slot to work with, in order to utilize the functions necessary to work properly. These unused slots are used for a short period of time so a supporting member can gain access to the server, then the script will boot the longest non-supporting member playing, off the server.

How do input the GUID in my profile? I'll quote myself from the other SM Reserve thread.
I've got every SM's GUID that has played on our COD4 servers, if they need it, just shoot me a PM. This system is not online yet, so lets be patient, it should be soon.

If you want to retrieve your own GUID, you'll have to open the game, and connect to a server, and then type press "shift+~" to open the expanded console, and type "Enter /pb_myguid" to retrieve it, you'll more than likely have to write this down, as I don't think you can copy from the console.

Also, you'll notice once you put in your GUID, it will not be visible to anyone, even yourself. Don't worry thats the way this is suppose to be. Every PB supported game uses GUID's, but all the other games we host also have some sort of game ID, or account system that we we're able to use. COD games never required any kind of account login, which is why we are just going solely off your GUID's for the auto-admin kick script system to work. Some people might be weary of their cd-key hashes being on public display, so they are hidden, but the server will still read them clear as day. [/quote]

If you guys find any problems, please let us know! Be sure to give PanzerHans a huge thanks as well.

The best way to reach me is via Xfire (mystilicshade) and through TS.

For anyone interested in the supporting member backend support, I have blogged about it here: http://www.tacticalgamer.com/blogs/p...g-members-204/

thanks for everyone's hard work in getting this set up.

I was able to get on earlier, Long Bow was complaining about constantly being kicked though

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: Supporting member reserve system is operational

Just to clarify as I have been having issues with the reserve system:

How long does it take for the PB Guid to replicate from a forum profile to the SM slot reservation system on COD4? Does it work immediately or does it take a day?

My profile has the Guid in it, yet when I joined at 14/18, it allowed me to play for a few minutes before kicking me, as I had "joined on a server slot" and that at 16 players the server is considered full. There is no way someone could have joined before me, so unless I was kicked for a SM, which wouldn't make sense since I have my GUID in my profile, I don't know what is going on.

Also, I am guessing a manual connect with a password doesn't work anymore.

It can take up to 15 minutes for it to work, be sure you've input your GUID correctly.

You as a supporting member should never have a problem when joining on the last two slots of the server. I am going to look at the logs to see what the reason could be.

Edit: I think I have found an issue with the refresh of the supporting member list. It only updates ever 24 hours. I'll go ahead and fix it asap.

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: Supporting member reserve system is operational

Well I got kicked because I had not yet put my GUID in.

I copied and pasted it into my profile and I joined straight back in.
It seemed to run well for me.

Might be handy to have an in game banner to remind SM's to do this and so avoid the
script kick.

GRUNT GRUMBLE >>>>> We seemed to have a spate of map changes yeterday some voted others via admin but it was most disruptive, I ended up leaving which as an SM I'm a bit pfffed off about.
Can we add some map change limit scrips so that you only get one vote change available every 5 maps, or all have to agree on a vote.

Admins to retain full anytime control of course.

Regards

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: Supporting member reserve system is operational

I joined in on the tail end of that map change frenzy Barnaby, it was a bit overdone. Not every map is great but any map is better then the loading screen.

I was on a good deal yesterday and would get kicked via an admin decision every once and a while. However I don't have my GUID in yet so that may be the problem. I will let you know if I keep getting kicked after my GUID is in.

Thanks for implimenting this, very much appreciated.

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: Supporting member reserve system is operational

Yeah, the map thing was partly my fault. For some reason the server kicked us back to the map we had done previously, we all voted to skip and it went to the one we had just done. While I was telling HAND about it, another vote took place so the map changed again, then HAND changed maps based on what I had told him and we skipped one some people wanted to do. Was a confusing time. My ping jumping all over the place didn't help matters any as the info I was relating to HAND was older than it should have been.

Back on topic: Since putting my GUID in my profile and getting the SM status, I've not had problems with getting kicked at all. Think it even removed someone for me last night during my ping issues after I rebooted everything. My only problem with the system is that it seems when players get kicked, they seem to only receive the message in the parentheses. "(Admin Decision)" They don't see the text about the server being full at 16, though it shows it to everyone else as a reason most of the time (sometimes it doesn't even show there).

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: Supporting member reserve system is operational

As a reminder -- the SM Reserve Password system is disabled; as this was conflicting with the automated SM system, so do not use this method of getting in as it will not work.

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: Supporting member reserve system is operational

Hopefully this will also be helpful:

I found that my Pb GUID changed midgame after I was kicked from the server for a SM. This was after I had already connected and pulled my PB GUID from the game and placed in the profile. I tested this several time over 3 hours yesterday, about halfway through is when the change occurred. Didn't change today though. Just a heads up for anyone who might have thought their PB GUID was all set.

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: Supporting member reserve system is operational

Everything worked great for me last night, I had no issues connecting nor did I get kicked at all. Good point about the PB kicked via admin decision message. It does seem like you were kicked by an admin and not a reserve system. It could lead to a lot of confusion and subsequent posts in the forums along the lines "why was I kicked from your server?" type threads.

Actually Longbow, the auto kick if server is full reads (Admin Decision) for 0 minutes.
