    Directx Error! Please help!!

"Directx encountered an unrecoverable error. Check the readme for possible solutions."

OMG what does this mean? I thought it was my resolution changing or something but when i first ran CoD4 singleplayer, i changed from 800x600 to 1280x1024 and it worked fine, and i played about 5 missions or so. then i went and played a few rounds of CSS, then ran the multiplayer CoD4, and i changed it's resolution to 1280x1024 from 800x600 and it took a while to load, then it popped up that error, now both Singleplayer and Multiplayer CoD4's pop that message up everytime i try to run them.. HELP what do i do? i dont know what to doooooooo!

From what it looks like, turn your xfire off and see what happens.

I dont think it means anything. I got the same error message and i did a diagnostics and checked the readme. Nothing was wrong. I think it just might be a bug or something. I get it when i go to mods and run the game without mods.

Xfire does not like COD4 and will crash it periodically.

I get it when I alt+tab too much.
I just start the game back up.

I have gotten the same error. I just re-boot my comp and everything works fine. I don't run Xfire.

I had the same issue today. I was doing a lot of alt+tabbing as well.
