I fiddled around with mine again, and I think I have it to where it actually dips into the high teens some, but mostly stays around the 22-23ms mark all the time now..

I am still jealous of all these other huge connections though. Maybe I can try a "Test" server now that the cable company has deemed that I need my own static IP..if I bump back up to the 16mbit down/2mbit up service, that might just work pretty good!

Just saw this post, haven't been on in a while... we actually have a dedicated line to the Underground where our data center is located (http://www.undergroundcolocation.com). I'm told it is a 20GB line but have seen bursts larger.

amazing Mediator!
i was really annoyed with my ping coz' i got a fast internet connection and i didnt understand why my ping is so high.
i actually registered for the forum just to thank you!
it droped my ping from around 100 to 80!

As far as I am aware, it is not a file you must edit. You must open the console in game (by using the tilde (~)) key located to the left of the number 1 key. Then, type in the following commands:

/seta com_maxfps xx
/seta cl_maxpackets xx

In place of the x's, type in your average FPS (frames per second). For example, if you average 60 FPS, you would type:

/seta com_maxfps 60
/seta cl_maxpackets 60

Sarge there is actually one other step that you might want to do before you do this. The game is set to max your frames per sec. at 90. So you might want to not have that limitation. It all depends on on your rig you play on. You might be okay if you are maxing out right now lower than 90 BUT if you are maxing at 90 then you will need to do this frist

seta com_maxfps 0

That will take the limitation away and give you the maximum frames per second your rig will allow. Then input the 2 line commands one at a time that Mindkill typed in using your max average fps in game for the xx's
