Reduce your ping WAW
Hey guys I orginally posted this in the COD4 forums so I'm going to here too because it works on WaW. I dropped my ping from 50 to 35 by using this command for the config file.
The max packets are set at only 30 by default and the max fps is set at like 85 or so (can't remember for sure on the fps). So what happens is you get a loss of information which causes a slight delay in mili-seconds and therefore reduces your ping.
So try this:
/seta com_maxfps 100
/seta cl_maxpackets 100
You want the numbers to match and you want to replace the number 100 with whatever your in game constant max fps is. To find this out download FRAPS from www.fraps.com - it's free and will place your fps in the right hand corner of your screen for whatever game you are playing at the time.

These settings actually save because you are using the /seta command. I don't have to redo these. I used that command on the waypointicon hieght and width and haven't had a problem.
Keep in mind they made these changes to try and prevent some of the cheating that goes on..... like it really helped :-("The mind stretched to a new concept can never return to it's orginal dimension."

I finally remembered to give your tip a shot Mediator. I kept thinking as I was entering the commands, 'Man, this isn't going to work.. there is no way this can work'. But, lo and behold... it worked! Dropped my ping from 80ms-90ms to 49ms-55ms.
Again, thanks for the great suggestion! I would give you some rep, but us non-SM's are not trusted enough I guess.

what sucks on the FOV thing is that it seems every round it gets reset back to 65 or whatever, good thing mine is bound to the W key now :P

I have tried and tried, but I cannot seem to get mine to stay below 20ms hardly at all..it just lounges in the low to mid-20's most of the time..
