    |SOG| Tactical Mod

I would like to thank everyone for comming out and helping with the testing of the mod.
If you have found any bugs or have ideas on ways to improve what we already have,
I'd like to hear them. Also anyone who is interested in helping with the custom maps phase of our project let me know. Even if you havent made maps before but would like to learn/try it doesn't matter. Or if you have an idea for a map and can draw it out on paper.
The more custom content we put in, the better the game will become.
    Thank You , Krag

    Re: |SOG| Tactical Mod

I agree with kin, the SOG Mod is a blast to play. I really only have two suggestions as of right now:

The first suggestion deals with injuries sustained by being shot. I like the fact that when you become injured, you move more slowly and you have a hard time aiming. I also noticed that you seem to get better slowly so that you can actually walk at a reasonable pace after a short amount of time. Would it be possible to have some graphical indication (ie. the flashing red screen or a broken leg symbol) while you are seriously injured? I ask this because there were several points during last nights rounds where I was shot, but not killed and was moving slowly. I was pinned down by enemy fire and needed to run across a small open area but wasn't sure when I would be able to move as quickly as I needed. And for me to stand up and try when I wasn't "healed" enough would mean certain death. If that is the whole point, then please disregard the above mentioned suggestion.

The second suggestion deals with nades. I like that you have decreased the distance on how far a nade can be thrown, but I think it has been shortened a bit much. It almost seems like we are a bunch of 5 year olds that can barely manage a 15 foot toss. I know that in the real world, I can easily throw a 1 pound object over 50 feet. Now, I'm not asking to be able to throw a nade across the map. But, maybe doubling the current limit will help with the immersion.

Again, as it stands currently, your mod is fun as hell and very immersive. And as you said to me last night, it still has a little ways to go. But, I think you should be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Great work Krag!

If I can remember correctly a frag nade of WWII era is quiet heavy and 50 feet is about max that I could throw it, if that. We were taught to throw it like a football because you couldn't throw it like a baseball, too heavy. Anyway it should depend on how you are standing. When prone not very far at all and when crouched just a little father and for max distance you must be standing and have plenty of room.

When we were in basic training the Sgt. told us there was an apple crate in the range and the one to blow it up would receive something special. Me I just wanted to get it down range enough so I wouldn't get blown up. But we had one person to blow it up. When we were all finished throwing our nade the Sgt. gave the person who blew up the crate a new crate and a shovel and told him to remake the target while the rest of us took a break. Some reward. Well that was the 60's Army way.

I think once you get used to the nade throw distance, it becomes easier to know what you can do with them. And I believe the nades in WWII were about 4 lbs. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Kin3's RL experience story kinda verifies that.

You can throw the nade a lot further than 50 feet in game too, just takes some quarterback skills. =D

Have you ever seen such cruelty! LOL!

The MOD plays well..... I would like to see the distance on the nade toss just a bit further too if possible though I understand the reasoning on shortening it.

I have actually downloaded the tools for this Krag but haven't figured out how to use them yet. I would love it if someone could run through the basics with me to get a fast start on it. Then I could put some time into it too.

If the WaW tools are the same as CoD4's were, there should be a link to their Wiki somewhere in the launcher app. Even though I found it to be frustrating at times, it does contain a lot of useful information.

    Re: |SOG| Tactical Mod

The first rule of thumb would be start small for your first map. Just make a room with a light, spawn point and just one texture for floor ,walls, and ceiling. Make it a single player map. then you need to compile your map after you compile you will need to make sure your xfire is on . ok now you will want to start your map there is a button in the tools to do that, once the map starts and you have spawned you need to press your video record in xfire and upload it so we all can see what a cool map you made. LOL. All my maps start out as single player maps cause it is alot easier to test them. you might be laughing saying im not go to just make a room i want to make a whole map, but this will help you learn to use the tools and you wont have to worry about things like portals which are a pain, but thats for another time . also feel free to add me to your xfire im almost always on it xfire name is krag1 .This way i'll jump on ts and walk you thru your first one , and when ever you need help after that to. On a side note im working on a ranking system for the mod , it will not be used to unlock weapons but more as a fun factor thing. The menu system we are using now will still be in place . Krag

Very nice man, Rember one thing we are always more critical of our own work.I can't wait to try it out. The only thing I would suggest is putting some box's in the trench you had jumped down into. I say this because I saw that you we're taking damage when jumping down into them. I am really looking foward to starting to make maps. I have a map about 50% done that I have to bring over from COD4 and one in COD5 thats about 10%. Here is a tip for you guy's before you start making your map sit down and and write out your ideas also draw a layout of your map idea , This really make's it easier when you start. For one reason you can now import your layout into the map editor, Put it below your ground level and build on top of it. Also a good idea is when your driving / walking around town bring a camera and take reference photos of cool looking buildings and Architecture. And like I said before feel free to contact me if you need any help.
