Which platform?
Ok, I have been considering on getting World at War for a little while now, really thinking hard since I played the game on my buddies PS3 the other night online. My question is what system should I get it for, I have the PS3, the Wii, and also a computer.
I have always liked playing FPS games on the computer. Only reason I had considered a different platform this time is cause my buddy asked me to get it for the PS3 and that way we can group up online. I have lots of other online(computer) friends that play this game and know I would be able to play with them a lot more though.
Wife BTW wants it for PS3 as well, she is not much into computer gaming cause she can't get the buttons down real good for keyboard usage. Is there any difference in the way the game is played? I thought about the Wii for the simple fact it is a little cheaper for the Wii compared to the PS3 but I just am not so sure about my gaming abilities on the Wii. I thought about renting it if I could to see how it played on the Wii first.

Re: Which platform?
Personally, I would get it for the PC. But, I am one of those looney "Why get a console when I can do more on my PC" guys.
Some things you might consider would be:
- How upset will your wife be if you get the PC version?
- Can you play on modded servers with a PS3 or Wii?
- If you can't play on modded servers, I don't think you will be able to play custom maps on a console.
Well, without starting a war of PC vs Console, thats all I can think of.
I hope you choose the PC version, we have a great group of tactical players on our |SOG| Modded WaW server.

I am not to much into mods, custom maps aren't really that exciting either. Previous versions of CoD never had great mods or custom maps IMO. As for the Wii, I wondered, do you use the controller by pointing and aiming like a gun? If so that would suck. As of right now since I did some price comparisons I probably will pick the PC version, it is the cheapest I have found so far.

Re: Which platform?
I'm a little bias but..... the SOG mod owns. The game is fun, tactical, and plays well again. Yes there are a ton of custom maps, no they aren't ALL good, but that's better than nothing, which you get (none) on any console. Again, if you haven't experienced the SOG mod, than you can't really say that ALL mods suck.
About the wii version.... yes you have to aim with the wii remote, you can by "gun attachments" to make it feel like a rifle/pistol. None of the wii games are setup like any other console system where you just twiddle your fingers and thumbs and press buttons. Sometimes it can be overbearing, but when you get used to it, it's pretty enjoyable. That doesn't mean I would play it on a console, infact I can't stand playing any FPS game on any console.
The PC version is the only way to go IMO.Vir-Chew-All!!

Re: Which platform?
Playing World at War on my buddies PS3 was very fun, after discussing it with my wife she said I can get the PC version if I really want but she personally wants the PS3 version due to the fact we can co-op together. I figure I could get Resident Evil 5 to co-op with her and get World at War for the PC.
They do have map packs for the PS3 version but as usual they cost about $10. That is really the only thing I don't care for with any console system, you have to pay for additional content whereas most PC versions of the same games you don't have to. I don't care to much for playing FPS on PS3, I am to use to mouse\keyboard. Although I have been playing a little more and getting a little bit better with the PS3 controllers.
I am actually thinking of trading 2 games I have for World at War PS3 version from another buddy. Both the games I have are older games and last time I played either of them was January of last year. So I really won't be spending no money, plus the one game I have for the PC and play it quite a bit. That game was bought for my wife so she could be playing the same game when I was on the desktop. But now we have a gaming laptop so she can play the game on the laptop when I am on the desktop.

Re: Which platform?
I did trade off the 2 older PS3 games I never played and got World at War for the PS3. I also downloaded both of the map packs available. Wife is happy cause we can co-op together killing Nazi Zombies and the Jap Zombies. She is really addicted to the zombies, I been playing online and got to Prestige lvl 1 lvl 53. Still not to good with the PS3 controllers and seriously thinking of spending about $75 on the FragFX controller.
