Map rotation
I spent part of today uploading and briefly testing a number of custom maps based on some recommendations from Mindkill. Here's the current line up. It's easy to change, so if a stock map folks like was dropped, let Mindkill or myself know and we'll get it back in. Maps will rotate randomly. This is also optional. If folks prefer a set rotation over random it's easy to change.
Like I said, I briefly tested each map. This means it does not appear to crash the server and I took a quick run around to make sure it looked presentable. If game play issues arise, let us know and we'll either move stuff around or pull the map out of rotation.

Re: Map rotation
Thank You Drona , But I have already tested many maps and have added the grid to them
so if when you have time can you download the iwd files from here and add them to the proper folders
http://sog-tactical.net/cod5/
All of these maps have the Grid and work with the mod.

Re: Map rotation
I knew I forgot something. Getting right on it. I set the 9 round 24 cycle for the maps added where they showed up in the environment config.

Re: Map rotation
I thought this would be the best thread to post this type of info. Was going to just send a PM, but maybe we can use this thread for comments and suggestions concerning the WaW map rotation.
Anyways, I think the map mp_matmata should be removed from the rotation. My reasoning is that it's just too small for the large games we have had for the past week.
I'd like to get some input on the map mp_78lungariver. I think the map can offer up some pretty exciting games, but the artillery doesn't work well on the map. When the either team launches an artillery strike, the rounds, for the most part, impact the trees near where the artillery launched. I've found that the trajectory of the arty is very flat on this map, rendering it only useful for killing teammates. Also, on this map, its is a HUGE pita to get out of the river, rendering it close to useless for some sneaky swimming.
As far as the map, Sabre is concerned... It is a very cool map, but I worry that it might be too small for a 10v10 match. Perhaps we should look at moving the objectives and spawns to open up as much of the map as possible.
On the subject of moving objectives/spawns:
I think Cliffside (mp_shrine) could use some love in that regard. Perhaps move the B site south of the A target and move the attackers spawn to the far end of the map. Or, conversely, move the bomb sites to the other end of the map.
I think several other maps could benefit from moved objectives/spawns as well. I just haven't had enough coffee yet to remember the maps.
New map suggestion:
Krag and I were talking last night, and he suggested we check out mp_barracks. It is a tank map and we all know how much I love the tanks now!
As always, I will be more than happy to help out in any way Drona. Please let me know if I can be of assistance. I am even willing to learn how to move the objectives myself.

Re: Map rotation
Mindkill, here's a Mover tutorial I wrote that you can use.
You can use the TG server, but you won't have access to the logs or configs to make permanent changes. Anyway, read the tut. and you'll see, for instance, that you can make temp changes, say in the afternoon, then play them until you reset to the stock location - using Mover again - or the server is hard restarted via the box it's on. You and Krag are welcome to try some new locations and then play test them but it might be hard for me to find the coordinates later to apply to the configs.
That said, anyone with CoD4 retail can start a server on their local box. To get OWP, and thus Mover to work, you also you also need a copy of that. Here's their webpage. By running the server as localhost, you can move sites then copy the coords from your local log and post them for me to apply to the config - I'll only accept coords from Mindkill and Krag, so please don't fill my in box with coords if anyone else decides they want to mess around with this at home.

Re: Map rotation
I agree, with you guys, also I don't remember the glitches but there are some on that map with the mod.
Everyone one our team was told that they had arty.
mp_78lungariver I like this map, yes the arty hits the trees but I see a positive out of that.
If forces the squad leader to think more tactically.
The random rotation I don't think is working that well. 3 days in a row that maps have been the same at the same times.Last edited by Jay; 06-23-2009 at 01:47 AM.

Re: Map rotation
I luvz me some Argentan...I'll lose Barracks though for sure. I have not had time to check them out, but CoDUtility has a few new ones up. Give me a couple of days and we should have some new ones to try.
