    Video settings

    Mindkill:
Mediator, myself and a couple others got into a conversation on the server the other day about video settings and graphics settings in the Nvidia control panel (not sure if ATI has something similar). Since Mediator hasn't gotten around to it, I will start it off.

The first pic is on the map Downfall (I think). 2nd and third pics are my settings in the nVidia Control Panel, and the last two pics are of my in-game settings.

    So, whats your set up?

p.s. Evidently, it is not showing my in game screenshots at the full 1920x1080 resolution. But, you should get the general idea of what it looks like.

    Mediator:
I'm posting this because I have mentioned how good the game looks now since my reformat. Here they are:

    nVidia Control Panel Settings:
Anostropic Filtering: 8x (this still looks good at 4x)
    Antialiasing - gamma correction: On
Antialiasing - mode: Override any application setting
Antialiasing - setting: 8xQ (this still looked good at 4x)
    Antialiasing - Transparency: Off
    Conformant texture clamp: off
    Force MipMaps: none
    Maximum Pre-rendered frames: 3
Multi-display/mixed-GPU acceleration: Multiple display performance mode
    SLI performance mode: nVidia recommended
Texture filtering - anistropic sample option: Off
Texture filtering - Negative LOD bias: Clamp
Texture filtering - Quality: High Quality
Texture filtering - Trilinear optimization: Off
    Threaded optimization: Auto
    Triple Buffering: off
Verticle Sync: Use 3D application setting

    In game settings
    Resolution: 1680X1050
Aspect Ratio: 16X9 widescreen because of my monitor
    Screen refresh: 60 Hz
    anti-aliasing: 4x
    Sync every frame: No
    Dual Video Cards: Yes
    Shadows: Yes
    Specular Map: Yes
    Ocean Simulation: Yes
    Dynamic Foliage: Yes
    Bullet Impacts: Yes

NOTE: in console I prefer to set the field of view to on so it blurs close up when you site up. I didn't like it in CoD4 however in this game it works for me.

With these setting I can see heat waves and the smoke the bellows up from certain crash sites etc.... just looks amazing.

Hope that helps others achieve a nicer looking game

Re: My New Settings for WaW and nVidia

Nice Med. Pretty close to what I am using. Posted my stats earlier in this thread.

Btw - Could we get a merge of the two video setting threads please?

    p.s. Thanks for the merge!

I haven't really played around with the nVidia settings that much, I just max the game out. I will have a poke around in the nVida settings today.

Yup, I just have to hi-jack the thread. I like the parts in bold.
My settings by the way are close to yours.

Just a byproduct of the thread merge. I actually wrote the starting part of the post down to the p.s. part. And towards the bottom of the post, are my screenshots of my settings. The rest is Mediators post.

Re: Video settings WARNING! LARGE IMAGES

i was wondering if i could get a link to the ntune utility that you use med. the one that i seem to download is only for xp-64 and i have searched and found nothing and no madder what link i use to go to the vista ntune utility it gives me the 5.05.38.00_ntune_winxp_international.exe file to download.

i have installed this version to see if im a moron (i think i am) and it DOES load but just sits and hangs my system. is there a way that you can point me to the one that you use, it seems from hearing you talk that you have good success with yours, as my GPU is running really hot and i would like to see what my fan setting are at and i want to OC it a little so i can squeeze every little once out of my underrated card.

    Hey Jack,

I don't think Med was talking about using nTune. I know I wasnt. In Vista, right click on your desktop, then click "Nvidia Control Panel". Then click "Manage 3D settings" on the left pane. In the right pane, click the Program Settings tab. Look for "Call of Duty: World at War (codwawmp.exe) and select that. If it's not in the list, click the Add button and point it to codwawmp.exe. Once you have that set up, you can start tweaking your settings.

If ya need more help, let me know.

nTune wouldn't work on my Vista64 but it worked for Bronco. I downloaded my directly from XFX the maker of my video cards. I can probably send it to you via email or set up a download link to one of my websites for you. I think you can get it directly from nVidia though I'm not 100% sure.
