A really good guide to undestanding Graphics settings

If you wanted to know what graphics card settings are and what they do, here is a basic guide to understanding just that. It's a quick read and I went through it this morning and between reading and messing with settings it took me only one hour to get things right for CoD4 and WaW. WaW is a pain because you can't tab out for very long (inexcusable in my book for this day and age of technology).

    Graphics Settings

This has really helped me in fine tuning my game settings. I used my control panel for nVidia to make those changes game specific because CoD4 can take higher settings than WaW can before I noticed a diminished FPS. Using smoke in the game is the best way to check your FPS when messing with these settings.

Short Summary for those who don't want to read this article:
    • Antialiasing (AA): Used to correct the jagged lines - higher the setting higher the quality but at a cost of performance. You will need to play with this setting along with resolution until you get the right mixture of performance and quality based on your hardware.
    • Anisotropic Filtering (AF): Used to correct blurryness of distant objects - again play with this setting and check performance
