    Voice-overs, Positional audio, Map noise

Is there any way to turn off the voice of "encouragement" between each round? I'm not exaggerating when I say it's the worst voice-acting I've heard in at least half a decade. It sucks the immersion out of the game.

    Positional audio

I probably should have brought this up a long time ago. I noticed it when I first started playing. Is it just my setup, or do the sounds in this mod sound a bit ... off? For example, my footsteps sound like they're coming from behind me, and when people walk on wooden floors, they make an awful clatter like they're actually a tapdancing quartet. I don't have this problem in MW, or even stock WaW.

It might be my audio setup, I dunno. But I think if it affects the mod and not stock WaW, then it might be the mod itself?

    Map noise

This will be the final installment of my sound thread trilogy

What's the thinking behind the map making a clunk? I think looking at your map promotes teamwork, and not using your map for fear you'll give yourself away to the enemy stifles teamwork. Also, it doesn't seem all that realistic that your soldier would shout "CLUNK!" every time he looks at a piece of paper.

well you have to put your gun down... prolly turn on the safety, reach in your pocket, unbotton your pocket, pull it out, unfold a very loud pieceof paper... well i'll take a clunk inseatof about 6 different noises!
We're not retreating, we're advancing in another direction

Okay, in the interest of absolute realism, we could remove maps altogether. I don't think every WW2 soldier carried a map of the area, especially not one as detailed as we get in WaW. He may have been briefed with some maps and diagrams ahead of time, in which case we could show the map for those who have joined the server but are yet to choose a team.

However it's hard to get the same situational awareness by looking through a monitor as you get by simply being there, and the map is a bit of a gameplay hack to get around that problem. In the interest of both teamwork and gameplay, it would be nice to allow players to join a team, spawn, start playing, find some cover, and then peruse the map while waiting for the enemy. I don't think we should deter use of the map.

To be honest not sure, But I can say the only sound stuff even in the mod are gun sounds with everything else stock. I do know that the game has a new sound engine so maybe its both your setup and the new sound engine.

Hm, weird. Maybe it's something to do with the way player speed or movement was changed? Dunno. Or maybe I'm just imagining it all

With regards to the voiceovers, I'm glad they're gone, but we did notice one side effect last night. On CTF maps, you don't hear things like enemy flag returned, etc. Maybe that's okay, though. Or maybe we could record Drona's velvety-smooth voice and replace the sound files for the mod

The sound in WaW has always been a point of frustration for the tactical communities, with the footstep sounds topping that list.

Drona doing new voiceovers?! Sweet! Our game will sound like a 70's porn! Velvety smooth.. LOL

Ah, cool, that makes me feel better that it's not just me. I guess I do get the same thing in stock WaW, but I've only played that about two or three times, so probably didn't notice as much.

    LOL!
