Re: VietnamMod for WaW
I tried this last night and had a blast. This might be just the thing to revitalize the WAW server. Then in a month or so switch back to Krags Mod.
Its like having 3 games in one with all these Mods

Re: VietnamMod for WaW
The server is currently running the RGN Vietnam Mod. The redirect appears to be working ok and we will be testing and adjusting some of the settings throughout the day. The map rotation is set to S&D.
If you don't want to download the maps via the redirect, you can grab both the maps and mod files at the first link in the top post by Bronco.

Re: VietnamMod for WaW
Something doesn't feel right about the weapon damage in this mod. Feels more arcadish than the SOG mod. Perhaps it's just me but I couldn't hit jack with an auto unless I was close up, even while burst firing and several times my bolt shots weren't lethal from mid to long range. Am I the only one experiencing this?
The mod is fun, and the nam era weapons are a decent change up. The maps were good as well.

Re: VietnamMod for WaW
Actually the weapons are pretty accurate. i had no problems myself. yesterday I went through all the weapons except the shotties, but Bronco showed me they work really well.

Re: VietnamMod for WaW
I like the Mod, but both nights I've tried it I've had my first BSOD events ever on my new PC.

Re: VietnamMod for WaW
Well Thank You For your compliments Greflin. But I think its just like when people would
complain about the SOG Mod weapons, and like I told them you just need to practice with them.Im sure you'll get better cause I know your one hell of a shot. I personally like how every thing is very restricted from the weapons to no longer having perks to choose from. Thankfully bomb squad is gone although I did really like my version of it. Zeroy has done a great job so far and with the mod. And its only version 1.0 it is bound to get even better. I Also wanted to throw in that the maps are great as well, so lets not forget to the mappers and all there hard work as well. So come back on and play some more with us and im sure you get better as you find which weapons work best for you. The Sog mod is still on the server so im sure we will do SOG mod nights as well as Vietnam nights. Mind kill brought this up last night and I have to agree with him on it about having some Mixed Mode games. Sorry to hear about that Todd hopefully we can all gather a list of the bugs and stuff we have found to submit to Zeroy.

Re: VietnamMod for WaW
I really like the mod for the most part, but it's not a lock just yet as to whether it stays full time or part time on the server.
While I like it a lot, personally, I prefer the ability to modify your special nade and some of your perks rather than rely on the default kit being the only one available for a given class. I know a few folks had issues with the limited choices that SoGmod allowed and this is even more restrictive in terms of kit selection.
This mod does not support the Mover function so we're forced to use stock locations for everything. On a couple of the smaller maps, this make for an old time CoD4 rush fest on the attackers side as they spawn closer to an objective than the defenders.
We had several crashes last night and so far even though the config is set up to generate a log file, it's not being created so that makes it difficult to nail down a cause.
One thing I'll try and nail down today is the issue of folks being able to move during the ready up.
The rotation has been updated to include all of our current US v Japanese maps. I'll also add in a couple of other gametypes so we can see how they play.
Thanks to everyone that helped with testing.

Re: VietnamMod for WaW
I really like the mod overall. I agree with you Drona about the rush on the map that is very close to the old Backlot map in CoD4.
I don't really mind the limited selection of kits personally. You can just learn to adjust to what you have available but I see the other side of the coin to in having the flexibility of choices. There were a few times I would have liked to had smoke rather than a gas bomb."The mind stretched to a new concept can never return to it's orginal dimension."

Re: VietnamMod for WaW
No you are not the only one. I was just the second selection on spec ops and I got my rear end handed to me when going up against a larger weapon but this would be the case in real life too. Smaller bullets can be stopped to some degree with body armor etc..... I think they were trying to make the smaller weapons for spec ops a CQB weapon like it would be in RL.
I think they are pretty accurate because when I switched to the AK47 it rocked."The mind stretched to a new concept can never return to it's orginal dimension."

Re: VietnamMod for WaW
I like the mod also. I think that it balances out the perks really well. Not having the ability to chose your perks also in my opinion puts everyone on a level playing field.
Drona, this morning i tried to move the map rotation around the map that is crashing the server. there is a couple of maps we have not played due to that map in the way. For some reason it will not allow me to put up the new rotation config.
I looked through the configs and the gas can be replaced with smoke. there are alot of changes in the configs that can be made to change up some of the weapons and such in each class.

Re: VietnamMod for WaW
I like the idea I'm not incapacitated from every shot in the arm or leg. There was one fight with Bubba last night where he had lit me up after I had the bomb down and was trying to keep it that way and the "your bleeding from the head" message was running while we continued to fire away. Think it was the only time I beat him all night. I don't know about the big gun/little gun thing cause I had the opposite experience with Krag's Skorp against my m60.
The class and weapon selection per class did allow for more variety in play and I found myself actually playing other classes and (I'm not aware of any #'s per class restrictions) never experienced any locked classes. I, also, tried calling for a sniper a couple of times and didn't have one on the squad.

I like what he did for the sniper. No more snap and shoot. Raise the scope, take the breath and then fire. Great work on his part for the snipers.

Re: VietnamMod for WaW
I made some updates this morning in addition to the map rotation.
Changed the default perks on most classes
Changed special nades for most classes so the squad has more smoke
Got rid of the strat timer
Was not able to modify the primary weps slots
Bubba, we had it crash on more than one map. The times I made notes, it was Hue and the nam version of Maquina as well as Maichau. I got the log files running so the next time it happens I will be able to check them.
