How do I join the actual game? All the testing went well but how do I get in to the actual game? I see I am holding everyone up

Re: PTBS Warlords: A City Too Far - Signup

Are there any instructions for this? Really simple ones that I will understand

I seem to have been able to enter via the multiplayer - Direct IP in Warlords. I chose my power (Elizabeth) and played my turn. Pressed the red button and exited the game.

This appears in CivStats.

But Hoplosternum is still 'unknown' in CivStats.

I then set up a Civstats account successfully. But I can't register my leader because it says that password is set by the host not me.

I tried to enter via Hamachi initially. But the Test IP address says it does not exist anymore....

Can someone please put up an idiots guide on how you should enter the game and play a turn. Cheers!

posted in civfanatics(basically it is the same as server test). Do you have msn or can we talk on teamspeak to figure stuff out? I would prefer msn or similar as teamspeak is rather loud...

re:hamachi

during normal (daily) play time we log in with this adress: tgciv4.no-ip.org

only during our power session today we use the adress: 5.134.244.58 while hamachi client is running in the background

at least, this is what i think

cheers =)

Go to Multiplayer.
Go to Direct IP.

Connect to the game server with the following information:

Network Address: tgciv4.no-ip.org
Password: tgmd6

This will allow you to log in, and play one turn. For the first turn, you will have to select your Civ, and put in the password.

This will go away once CingularDuality does his turn. If you check, you'll see you actually appear in the list twice.

This is probably a similar issue since your name may be showing up in the leader list twice. You can either wait until Cingular does his turn and that list corrects itself or you can select the "other" Hoplosternum leader entry (assuming it exists).

I'm sure you're fine. The connection stuff is exactly the same as the server tests I had you guys do before. For the live session today, just make sure you have Hamachi running, are connected to the Civ4-ACTF network, and use the 5.134.244.58 address to connect to the server.

As others have already mentioned, after today you will use the tgciv4.no-ip.org address to connect to the game server and you won't need Hamachi anymore.

25 and ticking... still noone around... Need to get started now or there is no way we'll get everyone in the game on time(it takes 2 min per person, mass connection doesn't really work all that well and just makes things slower than going one at a time...

11/12 shown up eventually. Not too bad. In the end connection problems did us in eh? At least we got done 5 weeks of play(35 turns). As there was talk of ingame anyone up for another live session to speed things up?

Re: PTBS Warlords: A City Too Far - Signup

Well, the live session today was a mixed success. We started about 20 minutes late because Whiplash couldn't connect but finally got going after everyone left and then came back in again. That put us at 10 out of 12 players with CingularDuality and Prometheus23 (bbfrancis) missing.

After about 1 hour of play we got to around 2600 BC and then CingularDuality arrived (just in time since oyzar had declared war on him ). Just after we got Cingular in game and working we lost Whiplash again and never were able to recover from that. After about 20 minutes of effort my Internet connection finally dropped and that was that.

Thanks to everyone who showed up and showed outstanding patience! While we didn't quite get as far along as I had hoped we still covered a pretty good number of turns.

A reminder to everyone to now use the tgciv4.no-ip.org address to connect to the server.

If you set your email address in the Game Options then you can also receive end of turn email notifications that way (in addition to what CivStats provides).

Good gaming!

You know...ironically enough for the signup information I asked if people were available for Oct 26/27 and it really should have been Oct 27/28. The weekend is really the only time we could make it work since we have so many time zones involved.

Anyhow, with 12 people I'd be surprised if we could organize another session since we'd really need everyone there at this point. Missing the start of the game is one thing but I don't think anyone is going to want to miss another real time session. Snarlin already mentioned he was out next weekend which already pushes us to the weekend of Nov 3/4 to try to get something organized.

My vote would be to just continue normally. We got a decent start to the game and these live sessions are too much of a pain to get going. Even today we had to put in 2 hours of effort for 1 hour of playing.

Re: PTBS Warlords: A City Too Far - Signup

I think we had a nice session, actually i expected more problems ;D

If you wanne play 2 hours you have to make a 3 hour session.

Anyway it was fun to start our game and to get to know some people in ts2, future friends or enemies :P

Just one more question: communications about the game generally here in this forum, what about diplomacy? I would like to use civstats messages, but PMs at tacgamers/civfanatics are also fine with me, whatever you want.
Just make sure you all registered yourself at civstats with the game, if we use this message system.

well we have no other contacts for most people so this would seem the best way to communicate.
