It was primarily done in order to give newer players an edge against the more experienced Civ4 players. I like the concept in general simply because it raises the level of competition. This seems to me to be good for everybody.

I just found out i will be unable to play until monday and as such i would like to resign from this game as to not slow down you others...

If there is a sub who can play the first turns for me that could also work out, i would like to talk to the person first if i am going to play on though... It is a shame since the civ i got was one of the civs i wanted to play... Kicking me to AI means i won't return though as the AI have absolutly no idea what to do with an advanced start...

I know how eager everyone is to play, especially at the beginning, but I suspect most people won't have a problem with waiting an extra day. We'll wait for you.
