In order to get off to a faster start, without needing to do a realtime session, we will be using the Advanced Start feature with 600 gold available to be used.
Any particular reason I started off with only 570 gold?

The same thing happened to me and I don't know exactly why. My theory is that it has something to do with the visible hexes that you start off with.

I started with 570 gold also, so it sounds like maybe we all did.

Re: PTBS BTS: The Gathering Storm - Signup

Ugh, I feel my start went absolutely horrid I have practiced advanced start a large amount of times, and had a strategy planned out.

Then, I start to carry it out, buying my techs... and noticing that they took an extremely larger amount of money than I had planned... I had been practicing the advanced start on noble, not prince, and I think the techs gave absolutely horrid value compared to non-inflated value of units and buildings.

Ah well, perhaps good game already, I am inclined to say. Good lesson, I suppose, be very careful about checking difficulty levels. (and i just looked at the reference sheet... map size also, wasn't aware that would make such a significant difference.)

Freaked myself out. I logged in, looked around, then the server disconnected!

But when I logged back in, nothing had happened, so I did my setup. Messed up a little bit, but nothing irrecoverable I think?

570 gold too.

570 gold is because of prince difficulty...

The game is full but I'd be happy to put you on the reserves list. Please read the first message in this topic and then provide all of the required information.

Re: PTBS BTS: The Gathering Storm - Signup

Looks like we are almost ready to roll! Just waiting for Oyzar to do his turn today and then the 24 hour timer should kick in.

A reminder to everyone to please exit to the main menu when you leave the server. Exiting to the desktop apparently causes the connection to not be released properly on the server.

If for some reason the server is down when you do your turn then please post in the Server Problems topic. Include how much time you need on the timer in order to do your turn! If you don't do this then it's a guessing game when Asch and I go to restart the server. We have save files from the start of the turn and after each person logs in.

And a reminder as well to please check these TG forums and your private messages on a regular basis (i.e. every day if at all possible).

Thanks and enjoy the game!

I encountered him playing in a different game 1/2 hour ago.

The save files for individual players DO NOT include the moves for that player on that turn. The file is produced the instant a player joins the game, not after he makes his moves and leaves. This being the case, if you have played your turn and the server goes down before another player joins, your turn will NOT be preserved. Bottom line is just because you played your turn don't think you are ok for the next 24 hours. Check civstats, if it shows somebody played after you then you are ok for 24 hours.

Another alternative is just to log out and then back in again.

I don't know what's going on with Oyzar. He was on-line last evening playing in a different PitBoss. Maybe invite one of the subs?

I just sent a PM to Silver_Pipe asking him to take over the nation if Oyzar hasn't yet done so.

Thanks to everyone for their patience. A reminder that once the advanced starts are done we will be using the normal 24 hour timer.
