So ... I guess we're ready to start the game once everyone gets their teams.

Yep. I'll get Munro started on the map and will post here and PM everyone with the team assignments as soon as I can.

Ok everyone...here's my first crack at the teams. First person listed is the primary player, second person in italics is the advisor. Please private message me or reply here if you want an adjustment made or if I have your timezone wrong.
Where possible I've tried to keep timezones aligned as much as possible. Another criteria I tried to satisfy was to match people up with disparities in SP or MP experience; ex. Matching a Prince player up with someone who plays Immortal or someone with no MP experience up with someone who has a lot.

Re: TG BTS: PitSuc - Signups -> Oct 1
sounds cool to me.
How are the nations/leaders going to be randomly assigned? In SP the nation is randomly picked before the leader which ends up meaning that some of the leaders, those with only one leader per nation, are more likely than those with three. It would be fairer if they were handpicked randomly with the leader first and then crossing off the other leaders for that nation. Actually thinking about it that would be unfair for the civs with only one leader so just ignore me.
Maybe just letting bts pick random is best then.

For random assignments I've always let Civ4 do its thing. The player list is then sorted alphabetically and that determines who ends up getting what.

Okay, looks good to me.
Will our map be huge or large? You said before that 12 players are needed for huge and it seems like we're one short.

Some family issues have come up and I'm going to have to cancel my participation in this game. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

Roger that David...thanks for the heads up. If time frees up for you later then please check back. You never know when we need a sub.

I'm leaving that in Munro's hands. I suspect he may go with Huge with a high water line unless that gives everyone too much land. Of course with David dropping (plus Morgan is not around until mid month) that puts us now at 10 teams but I may leave the 1 nation as AI controlled just in case we get some late joiners.
Ok...here's take 2 for the teams based on feedback thus far. Changes are in bold.

Re: TG BTS: PitSuc - Signups -> Oct 1
Quick additional note here...I'll do ONE more iteration of the team assignments if needed. So if you'd like a change then let me know quickly.
When the map is completed I'll let you know, will lock the teams, and give everyone at least 1 day to get organized before the server comes up.

me three
And just to make sure I'm getting everything right, we'll keep in contact with our advisor out of game (emails, PMs, IMs), let them log in to view the map, see how things are going, and come to a decision how best to play each turn. And either player can take the turn, but it should usually be the main player.

Btw Morgan is away for another week or so I think. We should make sure he starts with an advisor so we don't have to wait a week to start...

Morgan would normally be an advisor himself. I've tentatively got him slotted in for that extra nation but he may need to sub in somewhere else if we lose another person.
I now have the map from Munro so I'll be locking down the teams tonight as well as letting everyone know which nation they will be playing. The server goes up tomorrow; i.e. Sunday, October 4 @ 9:00 pm EDT / 1:00 am GMT.
