Hey Kaleb!
The game settings are in the first message of this topic. Just go to it as a reference.

Re: TG BTS: PitSuc - Signups -> Oct 1
This message is intended for everyone playing in the game...please read!
We've been going for about a week and a half now and we still have a situation where at least one player is unable to log into the game and at least one or two other players are having minor retry type issues. I have a couple of ideas for things to try but both involve restarting the game. So I'd like you to reply here if you are not ok with doing this. This would be a first for me as an admin and I need to take into account what all 21+ players feel about it.
Anyhow, here's what I'm thinking.
1. Restart the game with the same original save file that uses the SUC319b mod. We would know within the first couple of turns if this is going to work. My theory is that the save file may have gotten into a bad state with all the incorrect logins that were taking place at the time.
2. Restart the game without the SUC319b mod and put everyone at the Noble difficulty level. Now obviously there are some drawbacks to this since we will not have the research bonus for players falling behind in tech and huts will pop the normal range of techs.
I'm thinking we'd try (1) for 2 - 3 turns and then try (2) if the same problems are encountered.
Thoughts?

I'm good with whatever you decide.
You could try saving the current game. Stopping in and starting a new one and if that works you would know what the problem is. If it doesn't then you know that it may not be our current game. Just a through.
I'm just excited to have someone paired up with me to help me learn better.
Thanks

Re: TG BTS: PitSuc - Signups -> Oct 1
Doesn't matter to me
I guess some people might get knowledge of their starting locations and want to move their settler, but I can live with that. Or ask that people just settle in the same spot on the honor system.

I good with whatever you decide, but I like the idea of giving the mod another chance.
If we do restart, do you want us to replicate our moves to date? Settle in same spot, etc.?
How did the experiment go, by the way?

Re: TG BTS: PitSuc - Signups -> Oct 1
As someone who is experiencing multiple restarts to get into the game, I'm all for any improvement. If you think the save file is somehow corrupt than it is better to test it now than later. It is bad enough having to resatart Civ anywhere from 0-4 times just to hit enter, but it'll be really bad when 200 turns from now when it takes a while to load the map just to have it hang before restarting.
If it turns out that I am the only one with the problem, I'd be OK with sitting this one out. I'd hate to bring down a game with 20+ players because of my issues.

Re: TG BTS: PitSuc - Signups -> Oct 1
Since I am the person who is having the most problems (as far as I know), I am all for restarting the game.
EDIT: my problems are being unable to login

My initial thought was to replicate the original turns as much as possible but upon thinking about it more I really don't care. lol So I would say use the turns done so far as free recon and anything goes.

I don't think Pianoman has had a chance to log into the unmodded test server more than once so far.
My plan is to wait at least another day to get feedback from everyone and then if there are no obstacles I'll go ahead with the restart.

Re: TG BTS: PitSuc - Signups -> Oct 1
I do not really mind restarting since all the reasons stated are good enough. However I would give the mod just one more chance and if it fails this time, I would prefer to play unmodded game.
Anyway, I would like to call upon the players if it would be possible to gather around our PCs at one moment (within one hour which will be OK for all players´ timezones) and to play those first 10 turns immediately. Making those simple opening moves through yet another week might get boring. And it should not be TOO difficult to organize this, since the advisor can take over the initiative in case a player should not be available (and in extreme case, even another player´s advisor can in my oppinion click those opening moves on)

I'm fine with whatever admin's decision is.

I would go for that. But I wouldn't put my hopes up... did I mention I haven't heard from my advisor? I'm ok without one though.

Re: TG BTS: PitSuc - Signups -> Oct 1
I'm easy, I have no issues with logging in etc. My concern would be that, the problems may follow us as the issue is with peoples induvidal configs rather than the mod or save game as it stands.
There is a known conflict with BUG mode in it's embeded state, which will cause login to fail the first attempt. Although the issues described by some seem unrelated.

Sorry but past experience has shown that the Civ4 networking is too much of a pain to do this. Getting everyone online at the same time is one thing. Being able to get them all in game at the same time is another.

I'll follow up on this Wing Wah. Is there anyone else who has not heard from their teammate?

Wing Wah´s advisor is Michgod ... at least I think so. He is my buddy (but dont worry Wing Wah we are more of rivals than "friends" ... I will love to whack you and your puny civilization but I am sure that he will do his best to stop me). I called him yesterday already and he promised me to show up and contact you. The language should not be a barrier, his english is OK (well, that is if you make him shut up and only write ).
