The Snarlish empire has heard your call. We have supported our Persian friends in the background for some time now, but no more...Now We Will March With You!! To War! To War!

I want to thank the leader of the Snarlish empery and salute him for his wise decision.
I ask that everyone, and especially our friends that share the same continent as Persia also consider joining a global coalition against Twahns evil empire.
I urge you to take the responsibility of defending human liberty against violence and aggression or Twahn will enslave your people too later, if he is succesful in invading Persia. Then it will be too late. With the resources of Persia and the other smaller nations he has already invaded he will be too powerful to stop if you don't act now.
The President of the Catfish Nation is delighted to announce the Black Lancer - Argos Pact. A pact of universal friendship between the great Greek & Catfish Empires that should hopefully bring peace and unity to all the Continents of the Gathering Storm's World.
We urge those nations that have misguidedly attacked one or other of our nations to accept the inevitable and accept our enlightened leadership

OOC: We've seen alliances like this in previous games and its all well and good. However, there can still only be one winner when the time comes when everyone agrees to end the game. Just wanted to make sure you understood that. Assuming things stay similar to how they are now, you would need to agree between the two of you who shall accept the win.
While this game has ben great I think it has run its course. It has been clear for a while that the winner was likely to be myself or Twahn. We have a tech, power and size lead over everyone else. I don't think realistically anyone else can bridge the gap now. Our geographical position means that any war between us will favour the victor rather than any allies they have (we are close to each others core cities). So a war won't change who can win. Just which of us does.
I am not a big fan of late game Civ IV Wars. They can be long and the culture affects are not great. Nor am I a big fan of stabbing people who I have been friends with throughout a game. I have already come pretty close to it by sending techs to his enemies Nor do I especially want to go through a diplomatic charade of trying to persuade others to help me win rather than Twahn. It puts everyone else in a purely Kingmaker role. They can help me win or Twahn win but not win themselves.
There is a huge amount of luck in Civ IV. But I think Twahn and I have both used what luck we had well. Other powers could have swallowed up their neighbours to but seem not to have. Nor until recently was there much eveidence of a concentrated tech swapping effort to catch Twahn and I up.
If you insist on a winner I am happy to concede to Twahn as he is currently ahead and I don't really want to go through a long drawnout endgame with my knife sticking out of his back. I play for fun and while this game certainly has been, I now have a choice of beating up powers too weak to stop me (I'm about 5 turns from Infantry for those that can't see my research) or stabbing an ally. I don't want to win that bad.
Of course the rest of you may dispute that Twahn or I would win and want to carry on. In which case bring it on

Based on what I've seen that is a fair enough argument. You guys obviously got off to great starts and have held the lead points wise for most of the game.
I'm game for keeping this going for as long as everyone wants it to go. This would be the cue for others to chime in with their thoughts.
Personally I've been Levgree's bitch ever since I lost our early game war on our island. lol I'll keep playing for as long as people want to go.
The rest of the world has exactly 0% chance of doing anything but slowing the inevitable. Persia is a large and powerful nation compared with most of you and they are but a few turns from having their front lines crumble and the soft juicy exterior of their bountiful lands opened to the Greek conquerers. Taking their cities after the front lines are gone will only take as long as it will take to march to their gates.
Just a couple of points I'd like to make regarding Hoplo's post above...
a) I know you been sending techs to my enemies. It eases the consciences of my men to know that their enemies have rifles and are not merely slaughtered like cattle. I don't hold it against you.
b) There has been no luck. All skill baby.
c) I win. You come second. I don't make the rules man.

Don't be too sure. Persia is still extremely strong. Our front lines are solid and our offensive to free the region formerly known as England has just started.
I agree it is a bit disappointing to witness how the leader of the Catfish nation chosed to start taking orders from his new master, Twahn the deceiver, despite the strategic deal he made with Persia some time ago...
I had advised him to even join the war alongside Persia since that would benefit his nation tremendously. It might even have made the Catfish nation the number one superpower. Instead he chosed to be a puppet for Greece.
I suggest that the remnants of the free world join Persia in the last battle for freedom.
Poor world dictator Twahn needs help all of a sudden? Why has Hoplesternum suddenly sent so many troops to the front line in the war between Persia and Greece?
To those who fear Thawhns global domination agenda I have good news and bad news.
Good news is that Persian troops have heroically and against all odds retaken the narrow and very strategically important jungle region separating mainland Persia from the rest of the continent from the Greek troops.
I was planning to liberate the occupied city of New York next and my generals had assured me that it would be easy. We have overwhelming troops in the near region and Twahns troops that occupy the city were severely reduced after our successful offensive.
However, when I sent a scout I was shocked to see though 4 cavalry units sent by Hoplosternum right outside New York.
Does Hoplesternum plan to go to war with Persia too? Or is he planning to give those units to Twahn who’s losing the war despite his big words?
Is Twahn so incompetent that he actually needs help despite his words that he’s a superpower?
Why is Hoplosternum acting like a puppy, following Twahns every order? I thought he was smarter than that but maybe he prefers being ordered around by Twahn the deceiver.
I hope the rest of the world follow Spains example and their brave leader Snarlin in fighting this unjustice. Do you really think you will be spared from Thahns aggression if you stay out of it?
The Sumerians have made landfall. They have razed one of the largest Catfish cities with a heroic amphibious assault with an army of outdated riflemen. Their sacrifices were not in vain, however, as the battle was much more costly for the Catfish empire.
I think JMaltman has gone. He is certainly not resisting my invasion much. I have a big forces and tech lead on him so I doubt he can do much more than slow me up. But it may be best to switch him to AI so at least he does something? thats if he has gone of course.... Maybe he is just having a few days break from the daily grind of running an Empire....

Holy crap! According to CivStats he hasn't done a turn since Nov 4. For that long an absence he really should have had a sub. I'll send him a PM and if he doesn't respond by tomorrow I'll turn his nation over to the AI...unless someone knows a sub who is available?
As the 3rd place nation he is one of the guys who could have made a difference in the end game. If he did just drop the game then he can forget about participating in any future TG sponsored games.
Bravo Microsoft, you have now surpassed EA in poor decisions and once and for all seized the crown for the worst 'Reveal' ever. That EA were standing there on the stage with you when you did it was...

It is not often that I encounter across myself when researching a topic. I found the following in a recent article on the uses of ethnography in virtual environments:

Took a gamble and got a refurbished 30 GB OCZ Vertex 1 off of NewEgg for the low, low price of $30. Had some trouble getting the drive to be recognized by Windows or by my BIOS. Had to use a jumper...
