I'm sure not ready to call the game.

I agree, no way this game should be stopped!

Hop, did you send him a PM? Twins was one of the newer players to join us so I hope he is still around.
I am concerned about CH's team though. They have been in a very pivotal position all game and the constant player changes there have had a big impact. And now they are completely rudderless. If we don't get some subs in soon I'll need to kick both nations to AI.
Anyone can call for the vote if you think it worthwhile.Look is this game coming towards a vote?
Well, it's not like you didn't throw a snag into that as well along with the problems with CH's team of course. There does not seem to be any serious effort being made to stop Nik/Oyzar winning. Although that may be because it is already hopeless

Very true. One of the disadvantages of not having tech trade. It would be an entirely different game if we had it.And for most of the rest of us we are simply making up the numbers. The tech gaps (and GNP differences) have got very large now. So we would be of little value in any final showdown even if that should occur.

Yeah, the current wars would be with stealth bombers and mechs, not infantry.
No tech trading sometimes causes runaway civs. However, with tech trading on, the game ALWAYS blitzes thru the tree at a ridiculous speed. And anyone who is isolated has no chance at all.
Neither way is perfect, but I think no trading works better.

Just kick us to Ai, until I get better, since I have the flu right now, otherwise I would be playing right now.

Re: PTBS BTS: The Terrible Twos - Signups
I always used to agree and not like Tech trading. But this game (and another I am in with no tech trading) have made me reconsider. The problem is if you have a bad/small start you just play little part in the game with no tech trading. It's just not possible to catch up and so you can't even take part in the diplomacy/wars because your forces are so backwards.
As a player who is used to propping up the score table
I have a lot of first hand experience of this
How was the expensive research mod game working? That should stop the terrible tech inflation a tech trading game normally has.
That looked interesting but I think what you really want is something mores sophisticated. Like allowing you to trade only techs that you have owned for say 15 turns or more. Which would still give a big advantage to being advanced and reseraching things first but would not mean that the weaker powers drift away in to irrelevence when the game reaches the early modern era. Not sure if it is possible to make such a mod.

Re: PTBS BTS: The Terrible Twos - Signups
We're still early enough in the FoW game where it is unlikely anyone has done some tech trading yet. So it'll be interesting to see how it works out. I know Levgree and others were talking about similar trading restrictions for CC3. I think his take was to only allow you to trade the previous era's techs (or something to that effect).

Re: PTBS BTS: The Terrible Twos - Signups
Hrm, I would like to note for posterity that this poses some serious inconvenience for us. It's really fun and all to have your negotiated (one-sided) deals cancelled by an unknowing AI on a whim. The sooner we can have a replacement player, the better (though that statement maybe rather obvious already
).
