Well I have organised a replacement. His name is Hercules. I will tell him that he needs to register here, but otherwise he knows everything about the game and I can give him any extra info if needed. The main reason I am quitting need is that I am just burnt out of civ. I just need some time away. I will let my team mate know. So are you saying that it is better to play half heartedly? At least I am telling rather than just leaving without saying a word.

That is true. Thanks for the notification and more importantly for finding a sub.

I understand that real life always has priority and I also have gone through the burned out phase before. However, in the latter case I also believe there are other options than dropping from the game completely. Taking a break doesn't mean it has to be permanent. Especially at this early stage of the game turns do not have to take very long and you have an ally who can pick up some of the slack as far as strategy and such goes. There's also the option of putting in a sub for a limited duration although that can make it much harder to get back into the game once you catch a second wind.

A bit harsh, don't you think? No one should feel compelled to continue if they are not enjoying it, as long as they find a replacment, and continue until that is in place. Which CH seems to be doing ...

Yes, the comment was perhaps a bit harsh but IMO the game is more fun for everyone when you are playing with the same people. When we joined this game we made a commitment to the other 17 people in it to see it through so I don't feel my comments were unjustified. A sub is all fine and good but it's not the same when the incoming player has no sense of the game history that has taken place. And of all the reasons to leave, "needing a break", as I mentioned doesn't have to be permanent. Hell, in a single Civ game I can have a number of ups and downs in my fun level depending on what is taking place. Sometimes I'm on auto-pilot and other times I'm spending 30 min a turn.

Now having said that, I do appreciate CH finding a sub and I wasn't serious about a ban list anyhow since one doesn't actually exist.

    Welcome PurpleTurtle!

What timezone are you in? If you haven't read the first message in this topic yet please do so. I'll get the player roster updated as soon as I get your TZ info.

    Thanks!

Hi Hercules (or anyone else... )

If you're still interested / available in subbing for a couple of weeks over christmas, I'm going to be away myself and looking for a sub in a different BtS pitboss game (chaos and civility 2) as described here...

    Hey Hercules!

Glad to have you here! I'm sure another subbing opportunity will open itself up here eventually if you stick around.
