Bernout told you the real answer to the question (admin vs server password), but I figured I'd answer the question as you stated it. We started the server with an admin password since that ensures that it is impossible to join the game with an incorrect NoScoreMod mod. As you can see from what happened to Snarlin, we really want that. No point having the mod if it's possible to log in with a mod that's not quite compatible and see the scores and demographics anyway.

Snarlin, I'm pretty sure Bernout gave the right answer. The zip file includes a NoScoreMod directory already, so just unzip it directly into your Mods folder.

Bernout, could you restart the server again with an admin password, so we can investigate that further?

I'll go throw the other server back up right now and see if it comes back up with problems or if something needs to happen to trigger it.

    Gotta love the enthusiasm!

I'll get the sign up topic created after we get the game format finalized. After all, you wouldn't know exactly what you were signing up for otherwise would ya?

Need some more people to please log in and exercise the mod.

Excellent! You can download the mod at:

    http://home.comcast.net/~bernout1/Files/NoScoreMod.zip

I also now have a test server up and running so please feel free to connect to it after you have the mod installed. No passwords please! It's currently set up with 18 players but only the first 6 are human controlled (currently).

    Server is at: tgbts.no-ip.org
I'll try to get some votes up pretty quick here for some of the more contentious game format issus we've talked about.

    Thanks guys!

The test server is temporarily down since Comcast was over today doing some stuff. I'll have it back up later today.

    Server is up!

I've also added CivStats into the mix. Don't bother registering or anything like that obviously.

Hmm, Civstats seems to think everyone is eliminated due to having score 0. That might not be a problem per se, except for the unpleasing aesthetics on the page there. We won't see from Civstats if a player is offline or online, though we should be able to see who's logged in anyway. But will Civstats send turn notifications to "eliminated" players?

I think I'd like to register a leader there just to check. What's the registration password for civstats?

I didn't enter any registration passwords.

I also need to play around more and see if CivStats is going to record log in and log outs as well. It didn't seem to for that one login I did.

It might be enough that it tells us who has completed their turn but the login information would be good to have.

Is there anything we can do with the scoring so that it gives say just a value of 1 or something?

I wondered that as well. Rather than removing all scores, could everything be changed so nothing was worth more than 1 point?

Weird, I can't seem to register without a password, it says incorrect registration password.

I don't know of an easy way to give 1 score "for free". I can look around and see what I come up with, but I don't think it's possible. I guess we could give score for some component, like wonders. Not sure what the best solution is here.

Even if everything was worth 1 point, there's still spoiler information to be had. It would also be hard to set everything to give exactly one point. For techs and wonders it's doable, for land and pop I would need to know the values for the specific game in order to achieve that.
