Elkad's points make sense ... it is the short term temporary gifting and returning that is really the issue here. So maybe a rule that if a city is gifted, it can't be peacefully returned to the gifting owner for (50? 100?) turns?

Ok, sounds like we are mostly in agreement. And well, for those who aren't keeping up with the forums to state their opinions...that's their loss.

New rule effective immediately: no temporary city gifting. Period.

Ive just retaken a city from elkad but didnt get the option to raze anyone know why this may have happened?

My understanding is that you can't raze cities you used to own, regardless of pop size, I think because you have culture in the city tile. Or maybe because you used to own it?

Wonder what happens if you take a pop 1 city where your culture has spread to that city, but you never owed it?

If you have any culture in it, from any source, you can't raze it.
