Re: Pitboss BTS: Fog of War - Signups
I thought it was closer to 3 points per pop on a huge map. In any event, there are people around with about half a dozen cities, so obviously I'm not quite there yet. I still think I wouldn't be that much above the average Joe.

Re: Pitboss BTS: Fog of War - Signups
Score is normalized so that the calculated maximum population for a map should give 5000 points. So generally the more land there is on a map, and the more fertile that land is, the less each pop gives. In TTT, which has a decent amount of land on a huge map but not very fertile (global highlands), each pop is roughly 2 points. I expect this map to be similar in terms of amount of land, but it's quite a lot more fertile. Hence my guess for 1 per pop, though it could be closer to 1.5. It's easy to check though, the ingame interface lists the total pop.
But - who cares? We're playing without score for a reason. And while it's fun to poke at you for having 4x the score of anyone else, that's largely irrelevant. What matters is that you don't need to worry about barbs, get free border pops, and can run any governmental civics you like. Quite a boost that.

Very true. On the other hand though, it's painted a big "X" over my lands. There's good and bad associated with it.

Or, to make reference to another game in another galaxy (C&C II ... but the cast of characters seems rather similar) not an evil plan at all, but a beneficent liberation (a la the Founders ...
)
Rumor has it that the early rushER here was the early rushEE previously (at least in C&C II) ...

Re: Pitboss BTS: Fog of War - Signups
It's all situational of course. If you knew my starting location then you might understand.
In addition, now is the time of the game where people like to settler spam and are more likely to neglect their military. The longer you wait, the longer you give those players time to fortify their position. It drives me crazy when people leave Oyzar alone and let him build up in relative safety.
In the end there is only one (ok, maybe 2 for this game) winner and everyone is going to declare war when they perceive themselves to have the advantage.

I think you are just working your way to Niklas, who is your surrogate oyzar for this game ...

Actually, the question was semi-rhetorical, to be a pun on "rushing". Maybe it would have been funnier if I has asked "But ... what is your rush?"
And ... settler spam? What is that ... ? Do you mean economy crashing?
