I'd like to welcome Eyce, warezthebeef, and vrtigo to the game!
These 3 New Zealanders have taken over Arabia since I haven't heard from DMOC or Philip in over 2 weeks now. I know it's a busy time of the year but with two players you would think one of them could at least respond to a PM. In any case if they come back I can find them a spot in game if they still want to play.

hiya guys i know we are departing from the norm in having 3 player on our team, but none of us are well experienced in these kinds of multiplayer games (we generally just lan play), so hopefully that evens things out. we are here to learn!

Probably harder to play as a threesome, so I don't think that gives any unfair advantages. And although we started with teams of two, no reason why they could not be larger, so nothing to worry about (at least my opinion).
The Vikings have come across an interesting issue ...
A tile at the edge of the map, that we have 0 cuture in, is showing within our cultural border and we can develop its resource. We do have 100% culture in all of the five tiles that border it.
Is this some normal (or at least known) occurance? Or is it a glitch?
If this is not some usual, normal and accepted game feature, we will forgo developing and using the resource until we really do have culture in the tile (assuming everyone else treats it the same way if it occurs for them).
I might try to simulate the "uncultured tile surrounded by culture" situation in world builder and see if it replicates ... if it does, then we can consider it a game feature (which does not, I suppose, mean it is not also an exploit ... ), as I suppose one could consider that if a tile is surrounded by you culture, you have earned it ...
(Oooh ... I wonder if a foreign settler could settle on it, if it is far enough away from other cities?)
One thing I wanted to flag up and ask what people think:
cavscout is busy in RL at the moment so I've been running things for our civ most of this last week. all major decisions have been made by him whilst I've been doing most of the micromanagement lately. but with him not being around for a while it's pretty much going to be playing on my own.
Now this would be enough of an issue on it's own but it's more of an issue by the fact we've just recently declared war on the Greeks (you can all probably see from the scoreboard that there's been some emergency whipping going on!). Now IIRC ManiaMuse is the veteran player for Greece but I haven't seen him around for a while.
It kind of defeats the purpose of this game if I just go and beat up on a relatively new player so what should we do? My preference would be if ManiaMuse is still around for him to help out, or failing that to find another experienced player to help. I don't know when cavscout will be back and we could try and find another newer player to join team Maya but that could get complicated later on.
Failing the above it will just be a good learning experience for Kemal (even if it may be a short one, but then again it might not be short after all and I may get my butt kicked. But when you ask "can the Mayan armies do it?" you have to remember that they are called Holkans not Holkan'ts )
Bravo Microsoft, you have now surpassed EA in poor decisions and once and for all seized the crown for the worst 'Reveal' ever. That EA were standing there on the stage with you when you did it was...

It is not often that I encounter across myself when researching a topic. I found the following in a recent article on the uses of ethnography in virtual environments:

Took a gamble and got a refurbished 30 GB OCZ Vertex 1 off of NewEgg for the low, low price of $30. Had some trouble getting the drive to be recognized by Windows or by my BIOS. Had to use a jumper...
