If tech trading is on it should have brokering off. I've found AoP really fun with tech trading on as the alliance forming has been a major part of the game and it's turned out pretty balanced overall.

Have to say, from the two places I have sat, the balance eludes me ...

I think if you want backstab, brokering would need to be on if tech trading is on at all. Seems to me that no brokering makes it harder to reign in a tech leader, without making it harder to get that lead?

right. with no brokering, you can't dump a partner and feed his techs to your enemies.

Game is up 99 hours for the first turn, 24 from there.

We'll need to amend the port for the no-ip on 2nd Jan - due to the other games coming back online. I'll remind you all nearer the time.

You may notice some unusal activity on the civstats, messed up and added a game password, then created a game with sequencial moves, managed to come right in the end though.
