I'll try and be there, but may have to bump out early. This is going to be a learning process for me so I'm hoping you veterens can kick down some knowledge in the first few games.
Watch the coin!! 3 or four cities until you can get currency. Samurai are gods...kneel to them whenever you encounter them, I , er....they, may deign to be merciful

VEG,
What kind of victory conditions do you run...all we ever play is conquest or domination.

Well I was on all day yesterday and into the wee hours of last night trying to figure this game out. I didn't see either of you as I had hoped on TS. Perhaps this question should go to a separate thread, but my question is how do you determine the trade routes both land and see? I swear I was building roads directly from city to city but some weren't showing up as a trading city. Any ideas?
For sea trade routes you need to have sailing researched and I think maybe in other difficulties a harbor or whatnot. Astronomy also enables trading on the coast. Corporation and Currency increase the number of trade routes accessible.
As for land routes, besides connecting your cities with a road and the road to strategic resources, you might also want to check if the roads are under your control, within your influence, and whether you explicitly established trade or friendly relationships with neighboring countries.

Can you snap a screen shot? Are there little "recycle symbols" on your cities? THis indicates an established trade route....the look like three arrows connected at points. You can also check inside the city itself. There are several advanced technologys that increase the "number" of trade routes allowed per city. Mercantilism civic comes to mind. Until then, you are limited to 3 trade routes per city.
And i bounced into team speak late on Sat. would have been 8pm MST, didn't see anyones icon??? So I left. I think we'll have to work out a better notification system, or plan on a specfic date. My wife was quite unhappy that she didn't get to make anyone swear fealty to her on Saturday. I promptly put her pathetic little nation to the sword, it was a mercy killing...hey, that's just the nice husband I am

Ahhh...I was wondering what those symbols meant. Same applies to sea ports? How about after you get mercantilism? So many questions...

Keep the questions coming Roach, we have to get you caught up to our level so that we may form a secret aliance to crush her pitiful Spanish hordes..."The Spanish are plotting against us all, come NorcalRoach join us in our war to destroy these heretic dogs!"

Well, i was on TS at some point on Friday (not Saturday), although my civ night kinda half-fell-through, for reasons i couldnt control. Sorry for any confusion. I guess i'm not too good at planning.
For now, just look for me on TS whenever, i'm on quite often.
Also, could someone else pick a date, i think i am more open than anyone else here.

It is not often that I encounter across myself when researching a topic. I found the following in a recent article on the uses of ethnography in virtual environments:

Took a gamble and got a refurbished 30 GB OCZ Vertex 1 off of NewEgg for the low, low price of $30. Had some trouble getting the drive to be recognized by Windows or by my BIOS. Had to use a jumper...
It has been almost 6 months now and I am still waiting for the second peer-review report to come in for my next book (this one is on the future of television).
Things usually unfold faster than...
