Saying "Hello" from a soon to be player

Well as the time to Tales of Valor comes closer, i just wanted to say hello considering I want to buy it, making it my first strategy and first CoH game. So I was just wondering if any TG members still play, or if there is anything i need to know before April 9th (hopefully) when i will jump into the game. Can't wait to play with all you.

Well, ToV sounds like it will be totally different from the core CoH gameplay, so I'm not real sure what to expect. But, you can't go wrong getting the CoH Gold pack for $20 bucks to go along with ToV, either. It's one of the best games I've played, and I'm still getting enjoyment out of it over two years after getting it.

Okay. So they are going to be different? I thought they just added a few stuff, but were going to add a patch to kinda bring past people up a bit.

Re: Saying "Hello" from a soon to be player

No matter which version of COH you buy you can play online vs everyone who has bought any version of COH(granted they aren't using custom maps, old patch, etc.)

Each game allows you to play online with different armies(I think the TOV allows you the use of all 4 armies, while the other 2 only let you use 2 of the 4). Also each version of COH has a single player campaign(s) that is tied to it alone.

Re: Saying "Hello" from a soon to be player

Thanks for clearing that up Namebot. I was under the impression that you could only play the ToV-specific game modes if you buy ToV standalone (not the standard multiplayer skirmishes).

I'm not exactly sure about that but you should at least be able to join the new game modes in the lobby if you can't start them, much like the COH/OF exclusive maps.

How the hell do you unlock those vehicles for your army? You need ToV?

Yes, you must buy TOV and in the case of at least one unit(the tiger tank) you must complete a campaign.

Nice marketing scheme eh?

Yup, now they're going to do with same thing with DoW II.

It's not a new unit, it's just a reskin of the Blitz Tiger.

That could be said with most expansions/new units in games. reskinned model with different stats. But I'm talking about the scheme itself. Not the units.
