I am both shocked and amazed...

Re: CoH Learning Center

I am afraid they are never going to fix the balance of this wonderfully designed game.

Re: CoH Learning Center

The new patch has at least nerfed PE somewhat.

Problem I see is how strong infantry is against medium to heavy armor vehicles. Tanks are just about useless at this point.

Re: CoH Learning Center

Nah, as brits you simply wont beat a decent player without getting at the very least a Cromwell or a churchill out..

The Pv4 for the PE has been changed to be a ranger-killer.
The StuH is basically a guaranteed kill of 1-3 infantryman every shot it fires near one.
The M8 kills any PE vehicle in a 1v1 fight short of a Pv4.

Re: CoH Learning Center

I can't get the auto patch to work. arrrgggg...it's downloaded but when it prompts me to exit out of the game for the patch to run, it just closes instead of running the patch program.

Re: CoH Learning Center

You need to run the patch manually. Find it in your MyDocuments/blablahblah/COHwhatever/Patches folder.

Re: CoH Learning Center

Good advice. I was able to patch it with no issue manually. Looks like a lot of tweaks have been made. Time to unlearn what I thought I knew about the game again.

Re: CoH Learning Center

The new patch fixed the PE problem pretty well but commandos are still waaaaaay too good.

Re: CoH Learning Center

They're the most expensive infantry unit in the game and they have no AT ability fer cryin' out loud (OK, C4 doesn't count)! They had better rip some **** up!

Re: CoH Learning Center

Yeah, but they practically replace tommies and they're so cheap to reinforce.

And once they DO get shrecks they become practically the best AT infantry in the game.

Re: CoH Learning Center

Sure, but they don't get AT standard. If you let your AT infantry get torn up by these guys, well, I don't know how sorry I'll be that your tanks are getting owned now. I guess this means the Gren-schrek blob isn't good for everything, eh?

Re: CoH Learning Center

The main issues with commandos are the crush they can achieve when calling in the glider, their stupid-low reinforcement cost, and the smoke/demo combo. They are a bigger issue vs. the Wehr then PE, as their Stens only do 2/3's damage vs. the PE, but full damage vs. the Wehr. Remember, a commando costs less to reinforce then a pioneer, that's far from "balanced".

As for the armor, that's a "depends on the matchup" thing. Unless you are playing a bad opponent, you wont win either side of the Brit vs. pe matchup without getting vehicles on the field. Then the Stug rush as Wehr vs. Brits which is equally as devestating. We wont even discuss how powerful the StuH/Pe Pv4 is vs. infantry...

You can't just make armor/vehicles and hope to win, but you sure as hell wont win without a few vehicles unless you play as american.

Re: CoH Learning Center

Updated 12/27 with a couple new Brit and PE guides and cleaned up bad and outdated/irrelevant strategy links.
