Welcome to Tactical Gamer

  • Planetside 2 at Tactical Gamer

TG is forming a New Conglomerate outfit gearing up for deployment to Auraxis. We are currently recruiting new members interested in fighting for freedom against space fascists and left wing liberal hippy alien worshipers. Operating as a self contained Regiment inside the NC war machine, we will be organised from the squad level to the Regimental commander level. We will be a multi-faceted outfit, having Infantry, Armour, Air support and Logistics elements working in conjunction to achieve supreme victory for the NC and its freedom loving people.

    Tactical Gamer Background

Tactical Gamer is a large multi game community with a background in many FPS and MMO titles, with gamers all around the world. As per the Tactical Gamer Primer we create an environment conducive for mature gamers to enjoy the games they play without the everyday interference from the less-than-mature gamers. We create an environment where there is mutual respect for your fellow gamers and where all members work together to advance the enjoyment of their hobby. And we support game play in a near-simulation environment, where the focus of play would not be solely on doing what it takes to win, but doing so utilizing real-world combat strategy and tactics rather than leveraging exploits provided to players by the design of the game engine, regardless of the level of advantage, if any, it gives over the opposing team.

We have a large background in WoW, the Battlefield series of games (including the POE and Project Reality mods), as well as the ArmA series. We intend to build a home for our community in Planetside 2, utilising both the in game outfit tools and our own forums, and with a large player-base already at TG, we are looking to bring our traditions of mature team orientated play to the public.

    Requirements

Only accepting people currently in the beta.
Mature and teamwork orientated, working for the good of the outfit and the team, not the individual.
You have to be willing to sign up to our forums at Tactical Gamer.
You have to be willing to use our teamspeak, more information of which can be found at our Teamspeak Server Information thread.

Those interested in joining up should go here and sign up on the forums. The thread will give you further instructions.

    Rise up!

Lookin' good, though i'd just like to point something out perhaps. One of the things I remember from TG's Project Reality server, is that every time someone inquired about the TG "Clan" we would always correct them to "Community". Stressing the fact that we were indeed a community and not a clan. A structured recruitment process (complete with a 2 week trial period) is very much a "clan" trait and that technically at this point, the TG outfit could easily be considered a clan in PS2. Having said that, I did talk to someone who mentioned that it was just to ensure the people played the TG way, and to be honest I suppose I'm alright with this one I guess, there has to be some method right? I'm just worried that it perhaps might not be in the spirit of TG I guess. I'd just like to make sure its not a trend for more... regimented? stuff... Don't get me wrong, I'm all for organization and such, just hoping things stay in line with the way TG does things I guess. A mere reminder to stay humble.

I see your point YK, but also like you stated, I feel as a long standing member here that I would like to ensure new community members really understand what it means to throw our community tags on. I think that the understanding of the Primer and our SOPs, and how crucial they are to community has slipped in past and the new community members were not fully aware of the standards our tags are upheld with.

Nonetheless I would like to say that the artwork looks AWESOME!!!!!! I got to play a little last night before the wipe and I think this game is going to rock here at TG. I saw some of the command styles of other public players and understand that this game is like military chess. Its going to be a hell of a ride!!

Its different from the way we have handled other titles, but nothing that I feel is overboard. Beta requirement is for obvious reasons and is just while the game is in beta. "Mature and teamwork orientated, working for the good of the outfit and the team, not the individual", has always been the priority here at TG regardless of titles. Actually requiring someone getting on the forums is new I agree. This was put in place to make sure new members are part of the TG community "at large" and we don't have the problem like we had in the past were large groups of members only exposure to TG was from the only Title they played with us. Requiring TS is just and extension of requiring people to be able to hear and follow orders through in game voip.

I'm totally digging the subdued lack of blue look.

As this is an MMO, and not an online server run by us, we have no control over most aspects of the community we play with at large. This is one aspect of how MMO Guilds/groups operate. While the ability to screw over the TG Outfit is massively subdued compared to other MMOs TG has run with (EVE online: Invite everyone? now a TON of people know where everything is, and will raid and blow up your stuff, steal your corp's assets, can actively screw with your economy, can ambush you at every turn, and infiltrate from inside to actively take over the TG name and kick everyone out) It's possible to invite people that will use the outfit to spy on us, to monitor troop movements and give their own clan intel on what we're doing, to screw us over by being jerkwads and sullying our name, etc.

This is one of those things that I really, really wish people would understand, not coming from an MMO background. Your only control over your name, your responsibility, your representation, your EVERY ASPECT in the game outwardly observable is how well you can control and maintain your members.

Also, in fact, the 'Outfit' nomenclature inside the game DOES mean 'clan'. It's purpose is to unite a force together as a representational unit in the game world, and provide an organizational standpoint in game.

      Hello again TG!

I just got my Beta acceptance and I can't wait to get back to Auraxis. I played the original for over 2 years and I'm excited to see what PS2 has to offer. Super glad to see so many former Project Reality players posting here as well.

Have to admit, I was 100% Vanu in the original Planetside so I'm going to have to think hard about putting on the Blue 'n' Yellow.
