Tactical Gamer proudly presents our round-robin review of NaturalPoint's TrackIR 5. TrackIR 5 is the latest in the lineup of TrackIR products that allow gamers to literally use head movements to look around in a game. Allowing superior situational awareness over a plain mouse and keyboard setup TrackIR 5 becomes essential to flight simulators and tactical first-person shooters.

This is a round-robin review with contributed content from Wicks, Dredge, Warlab, and myself (Acreo Aeneas). We have tried to be as thorough and complete in our review as possible, but given time constraints and the sheer number of games that support the TrackIR 5, we were only able to cover the use of the TrackIR 5 in a few select titles. ...

I propose a question to you my brothers and sisters at TG, have you ever loved a series or franchise of gaming so much that you'd dedicate you life to seeing that franchise or series grow by making your own game? Well one such young woman that I had the chance to speak to today gave me her answer: "Yes". I had the opportunity to speak with "Sammi" lead designer for an independent Castlevania project entitled "Sonata of Melancholy". Now a lot of us remember the good 'ol days of gaming, back when the newest fanciest graphics engine didn't way on our minds. What did, was story, and gameplay, that's what mattered to us.

Sammi has spent the last 4 years writing a new story for the Castlevania series and working on a design for a new game in the series. She has a long road and a lot of work ahead of her, but I think she'll get there. Now for those of you not familiar with "Castlevania" take a look at this: ...

We all enjoy gameplay videos on YouTube, right ? Developer videos, reviews, tutorials, and especially user made gameplay. Even better is watching a quality video featuring TG style gameplay. So what if we had a central location where all high quality TG created videos were housed? We asked that question internally and the end result was the creation of an official TG youtube channel. Our primary goal for this channel is to provide a consistent content stream of videos created by members of this community. We will then meet that goal by achieving the following pieces of our vision for this channel; ...

So last night after some wrestling with PunkBuster I finally got a few rounds of BF3 in, here are my first impressions and opinions on how the game will play out in the future.

BF3 is without a doubt the most anticipated release of the year at TG, BF2 and 2142 were the most popular titles here for a long time and with BF3 being the clear sequel it certainly has some pretty hefty shoes to fill. A large marketing campaign certainly helped to whet the appetite and prepare us for what is an undoubtedly huge release, the gaming world was hungry for more as fan-boys fanned and haters hated. Amid much speculation and a healthy does of trolling the BETA finally hit, throwing many a cat among the hordes of pigeons. We finally had our hands on what would presumably be a thoroughbred Battlefield game, a shining light in the swarms of botched console ports and CoD clones. Well not quite. Plagued with bugs, missing features and the tears of hardcore fans the beta opened the flood-gates to a tsunami of requests, flaming and rage. But would DICE listen? Would the thousands of threads on forums and twitter conversations manage to turn the game around into a game we will be playing long into the future? Well read on to see what I think and make your own decision! ...

Red Orchestra 2:Heroes of Stalingrad is Tripwire Interactive's follow up to the cult classic Red Orchestra. Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, RO2 takes us to the Battle of Stalingrad and the back and forth conflict between the Soviet Union and Third Reich. The game, while supporting a single player mode, is very much intended as a multiplayer experience. With that in mind, this article will focus on the multiplayer mode. If, however you are new to RO2, I would suggest at least trying the singleplayer as it does give a good introduction to the game and it's features. ...
