The boys and girls over at Taleworlds are at it again with their new game, Mount & Blade: With Fire and Sword. WFaS is the third installment in the Mount and Blade series, where you can play on foot or mounted and fight it out with swords, axes, arrows and a host of other weapons on the med-evil battlefield.

Mount & Blade: With Fire and Sword expands on this by taking the game forward to the 17th Century and the conflict in North Eastern Europe, and probable the biggest change, "firearms". Yes that right you get to add Muskets to all your hacking and slashing. ...

    Dichotomy of a Theme
Differences between Project Reality and ARMA II

I have been playing Project Reality at Tactical Gamer now for three and a half years. It has been a huge amount of fun, and the most realistic online game play I have ever experienced. There is just something special about it that you can't quite explain.

After playing ARMA II in earnest this week for really the first time after tinkering around with it for over a year, I began to think about it. I came to really see how very different ARMA II is from Project Reality, even though essentially they are the same type of game - first person modern warfare shooter. The differences go beyond just the game itself. They manifest in almost every area, right down to the people that play the titles.

It is interesting to scribe some of my observations on how the two games differ. For gamers that play both titles, it would be interesting to see how many out there have the same opinions. For players that don't play one or the other, this may be an interesting insight into a dichotomy on a theme - the first person shooter at Tactical Gamer.

I want to emphasize that these are my observations from playing hundreds of hours of Project Reality and tens of hours playing ARMA II, Operation Arrowhead on the Tactical Gamer Bravo Server. It is an opinion article on my perspectives as a very new ARMA II player. I am not commenting on future ARMA II developments and modifications (like PR for ARMA), as I have no knowledge of them. This is strictly my observations as a new ARMA II player coming from Project Reality in the present conditions of both games and communities. ...

Greetings everyone, [TG-18th] DamionRayne here with another article. This time focusing on MMO Gaming, and doing it the TG Way. So we'll get started with a game that TG used to have a presence with, and a game that is growing constantly and pushing the boundaries of MMO Development.

    What is Eve Online?
I'll be showing a few videos in this article to help explain to people what exactly Eve Online is, and what it offers to those that are looking to play it. In the technical sense Eve Online is a "Persistent Single Shared Universe, with Emergent and Non-scripted game-play." What does this mean in Layman's terms? This means that when you are playing Eve Online you are playing it with all of the 360,000+ subscribers that play the game as well.

This means that Eve Online is a game universe built around the principles of gameplay that isn't scripted, outside of course fighting NPC's for various reasons. This means that Eve Online is a social game in the truest sense of the word. In a game where every action you make has a consequence, it brings new meaning to this type of world. ...

Our ArmA section here at Tactical Gamer has welcomed a resurgence the last couple of months. We've seen multiple events and a regular core of players is now on daily. TG/ArmA has also been cut to its basics. All you need to play now on our server is ArmA 2 + OA + ACE. This leaves it very open to new players who have been scared off by the amount of prep in the past. Along with this we have a new Game Officer: Dredge, and his new leaner and meaner admin team. Our missions development section has returned with a vengeance and you can expect many new and exciting missions available to play.

Now that we have a new GO, I wanted to get his vision of the future for TG/ArmA and where he thinks we are headed as a community. That being said I opened up the floor to the community and had them present several questions for him.... ...

Come join us for a Sins of a Solar Empire Open Event hosted by the Tactical Gamer Strategy Games Group, aka TG: SGG.

For those who don't really remember what Sins of a Solar Empire is you can follow the reviews for Sins of a Solar Empire Thread linked at the end of this article for some great reviews by various online sources. Essentially Sins is a RTS of somewhat - at least in my opinion - epic proportions which can be a simple 1v1 or a long and sometimes arduous 5v5 that can last a.... long time. ...

Tactical Gamer’s very own AFSoccer has put together a new map for Battlefield 2 Project Reality – Shijia Valley. Shijia Valley is a 4 kilometer map pitting the forces of the United Kingdom against China in a superbly modeled environment of rolling hills and custom generated urban environments, dissected through the center by a large river. Shijia Valley has been highly rated by play testers at Tactical Gamer, garnering many positive comments.

"No BS, no bias, this is the most impressive map I have ever seen. Without doubt this map allows for so many varied rounds it is remarkable." - A.WICKENS, Game Officer and XO Tactical Gamer Project Reality

"This map is all other type of maps in one. There are some places for Infantry close quarters, some for tank battles and some for combined arms and so on. There is something for everyone in this map." - Donrhos, Tactical Gamer Project Reality Administrator

"…graphical environment is stunningly beautiful." - desant_1, Tactical Gamer Supporting Member

"Currently Shijia is the most well made map around. The immersion factor and attention to detail is second to none." -dtacs, Tactical Gamer Supporting Member

Online communities such as Tactical Gamer have complex social structures and widely shared values. The following video essay by Dr. Strangelove (a.k.a. [TG] E-Male) looks at how the structure of the Tactical Gamer leads to a core value of teamwork within the community. This structure includes the codification of values in the TG Primer, the authority of game administrators, and the small groups known as in house squads. ...
