Wow! Bravo! This is differant from the regular PC geek talk. Wow Dog you Know stuff
I havn't read this post since 2 pages ago but I'm glad I caught up. Very interesting posts in here. I mean I don't care if it gets closed or stays open. This history lesson is worth reading for me anyway. For a change somebody is not trying to push something on me. Theres actually a good history lesson here. Oh and ED, if I ever see you in real life during X-mas I'm going to super glue u to a floor in front of LIFETIME television. That channel is why people go postal. Happy merry year!!

Re: Christmas!!!!
wow i just used up a lot of my free time reading that last page. Anyways on the basis of the whole politics thing to say that the United States constitution was based off of just political rights that a handful of people thought everyone should should get would be just ignorant. The constitution is pretty close to word for word from some of John Lockes writings who was a religious man himself. For Christmas being an international holiday, yes it is. Many countries outside the US celebrate the season in one way or another. Just because a couple countries don't celebrate it doesn't make it only confined to the US.
This whole theology thing is cool and all and can go either way for both parties but it it hard to have a good decent conversation to try to get the point across through typing. I think we should all just let bygones be bygones atm and call it even. It is the season of joy =P

Re: Christmas!!!!
Interesting times we live in.
To get back in touch, Christmas should be renamed. Maybe to "Thanksgiving II". Stuff your belly + presents + extra time off from work. It kind of sucks that the time off is in middle of the freezing season, so it should be moved to the summer as well. And while we're at it, can we get rid of daylight savings time? Talk about useless and confusing, it's almost as bad as being one of the last remnant nations not using the metric system.

Re: Christmas!!!!
You guys and your crazy historical and political debates.
Was Jesus born on Christmas, probably not. It was originally a pagan holiday that early Christians attempted to change to represent the birth of Christ. Its represented as a Christian holiday but there are no links between Christian doctrines and what is generally practiced as Christmas. Now, I don't see how it matters when Christmas is celebrated, you can theorize about the precise date, but your never going to know for sure and the date of Christmas is never going to change (at least anytime soon). Politically Christmas is just a commentary on how consumerism still dominates the U.S. economy and has since the "Roaring 20's". As long as American economy and business's prosper from Christmas the government has no incentive to change anything about Christmas, especially sense a good portion of the U.S. population doesn't celebrate it as a religious holiday. Christmas is a sad commentary on the social, economic and political boiling pot that is America. Christians try to defend it, business takes advantage of it and anti-religious and political nuts condemn it. IMO all Christmas highlights is greed, and the growing vices of our culture.

Re: Christmas!!!!
Fasty, a summary: people babbled about the meaning of Christmas and the political correctness of "Merry Christmas", I corrected everyone in my short posts here and here, and now the discussion has moved to Daylight Savings Time.

Re: Christmas!!!!
I think people should just leave Christmas be. Let people celebrate it how they want to. Buy presents, sing carols, or whatever else. If the united states were to ban Christmas, the economy would probably crash. Tons of people out of work and so forth. There are tons of companies that make the majority of their profits during the holiday season.
