Re: Do you own a gun?
"Its not like they can take the 2nd ammendment away, right?"
Sure they can. The national guard knocks on your door. In accordance with executive order, To Protect Children And Halt Terrorism, you must surrender all your weapons indefininitely. What do you do? Do you hand them over? How about the Katrina disaster? What's the priority? Evacuate people, or take their guns away. You know what they did -- they suspended the second amendment and started confiscating legally owned weapons. Waco, Texas. They may have been nuts with big guns, but they had the licenses to have them. Fortunately, Reno has a tank, and saved America from their wave of terror composed of... arguing about a survey line, holing themselves up, and saying God's a-comin'. Everyone knows the truth: • Armed communities have less crime. • Disarmed communities have more crime. • Oppressive regimes disarm their subjects. Castro's Cuba is proud to be gun-free! If you're not part of the uprising-suppression squad. • One armed citizen can stop a massacre. Armed with a gun instead of a cellphone, the Virginia Tech incident would've seen fewer deaths. And it works on a small scale too, one elderly veteran saved a woman's life by shooting the man, an ex-boyfriend, who was stabbing her because he was upset with the ex- part. • Guns do not cause crime. • Gun accidents are rare and are often the result of ignorance and/or carelessness. In the presence of ignorance or carelessness, everything from an automobile to a pencil is a deadly weapon. Ultimately, taking guns away from the citizenry is a concentration of power. The very thing that Big Government and supposedly "liberal" views promote. A centralised power is almost always dominating and oppresive in the short run, and always in the long run, which is why the Founding Fathers designed the US government to distruibute power as much as feasible.

Re: Do you own a gun?
I was just reading about a court case about to hit the Supremes that's the first about the 2nd amendment in almost a century. Now if I can just find the details....

Re: Do you own a gun?
Yeah, SCOTUS has agreed to hear the case re: the DC handgun ban. As you said, this'll be the first time they've interpreted the 2nd amendment in a long, long time. I'm pleased with the current Court and think this will be a fantastic decision to read.

Re: Do you own a gun?
The Russians take a gun to the Space Station (part of their survival kit) and someone thinks it endangers the other astronauts:

Re: Do you own a gun?
I've got a few that I used to shoot every week or two, but for the last few years I just play a lot of video games and never find time to go to a range.

Re: Do you own a gun?
Yep, they're on the way to my office. I used to shoot there as a kid. But I tend to prefer indoor ranges, and the closest is Bullseye in San Rafael (just across the bridge).
The Richmond range includes three ranges suitable for handguns and rifles and a trap and skeet range on a peninsula extending out into the bay. They also have a club house and RV storage. I recall taking my hunter safety class there as a teen.

Re: Do you own a gun?
Orthos, what branch are you? And i still think a glock is one of the best handguns in the world. But i would try to get a 9mm, the ammunition is cheaper than .45...

Glocks are a fine weapon. The military doesn't have a place for them due to the nature of their safety device. The Sig is probably going to be the best manufactured and most accurate "stock" weapon you can buy out of the box though. I have owned and shot more weapons than I can remember and the Sig's have tried and true been one of the best. Glocks tend to also be a bit on the "light" side due their construction. This lightness causes the weapon to be slightly inferior in accuracy than other pistols in the same class. An excellent weapon for concealed carry though ( I possess a concealed weapons permit in the state of Washington). I use to have a Sig P226 chambered in .40 SW. If you get a chance, try out this weapon. It is similar to the "compact" we use in CSS (awsome pistol). I wish I never sold that one. |
