I don't think points are too important. That being said, there should be other ways to score. After all, if you are on the T side on a de map, and you are sent as a recon or distraction to the other bomb site, you have virtually no way to score. On the other hand it might make people play their objectives more, and discourage bomb carriers to rush out as the first player.

So Ive been playing couple bomb maps so far and I see a lot of T's getting killed before they plant. Or Ct's being eliminated before T's can plant. Basically no one gets anything for it. I can see where there is a lot of supporting players like myself who is very objective based and in 4 map rounds now I have yet to score any points. Just the way its turned out.

Eh, I played the server tonight with the new scoring system and I'm not particularly fond of it. I think it would be easier to start this on Lockdown nights first and then progress it into the server. I think that people who have been here long will enjoy it, but new people or pubs will not, and that will decrease activity on the server. Taking away deaths like Orthos said would help, but seeing myself 0-8 doesn't make me the happiest person. Making bomb plants, defuses, explosions and hostie rescues worth more and keeping 1 kill 1 point will increase objective based play just as well, without losing activity on the server.

Hey even as a noob an not to skillful player I still manage to get an objective point here an there. I think its ok system and yes I do think people work a little better together but I'm undecided. I think people should still get kill points but you should get a lot more if you complete objectives. That or 2 kills equal a point or so fourth. At first I didn't like it but I soon realized the dynamics of it and people were working a little closer to win. That I liked and thats the whole reason I became a SM. Because I love the idea of team gaming, its awesome. I hope my input helps.

I'm not sure if it will work in the correct way. Sure, people will work together to get to the objective, but then they will do all in their power to get those points(ok, I'm exagerating a bit) and after they get it they rush for their next objective.
I have no idea if this will work, I doubt it, but how about we try to get the point system to change according to the situation. In normal situations, the points are awarded normally. Once you tag any hostage, CT's get no points for kills, but 1 frag per hostage. T's get normal points, except if they get the one taking the hostages. For him they could get a frag per hostage. Once 2 hostages have been rescued, points could be reduced to 0.5 points per kill. Maybe CT's could get extra points for killing bomb carriers, and even more points for killing a planter. Obviously, T's wouldn't get points if the bomb is down, and less points for killing while the bomb is ticking. Maybe, if points could be distributed by what area you are in, while the bomb is down, you could get more points for killing someone while standing near it as a CT. Again, I'm quite sure this isn't even possible, and I probably just wasted a ton of time writing this down. |

I won't try to go in detail but what if for example when the T's stop the CT from getting the hostages the whole team would get 4 points each. Then the actual person that stopped the CT that had the hostages in tow would get an extra point for the stop or for each hostage in tow. This would reward the whole team and the main player that stopped the rescue for his award.
Maybe this type of point system could be worked out for DE and CS maps. You would still have that death rate but it wouldnt be -1 or 0-8 all the time. Only way would be if it was a shutout game and then the award winners would be the only shiners. We really don't have alot of shutouts with this group of players. I hope this is understood ![]()

The kill money options were turned on accidentally and now have been turned off. I think this was causing some weird things to happen.
Also the author of the script may add in team win scoring. Example: All the T's would recieve a score when they win by preventing all the hostages from being rescued. Last edited by Vulcan; 03-27-2008 at 03:36 PM. |
