Re: AWPs

Actually, it is. The scout is probably more accurate while moving but standing still the AWP is a lot more accurate at a distance.

Re: AWPs

AWPs are like opinions.

If we let you have one you'd remind us of it every 5 seconds and we really don't care so shut up already and quit camping spawn.

YEAH YOU HEARD ME.

hmmm standing still? the only way the awp would get more accurate stand still is if the bullets follow which sometimes thats what it feels like.

Re: AWPs

At closer ranges, you won't notice anything, but at ranges similar to those of T spawn-Double doors in Dust2, sometimes even shorter, the scout is a lot more inaccurate. I took a few pictures on Dust2:
AWP:

Scout:

I did not move at all. I shot, changed weapons, zoomed in and shot again. I didn't even move my mouse. Sorry for the size of the pictures, but I'm sure you can make it out. The first one is shooting with the AWP. The bullet hole is almost exactly on the crosshair. If you look closely, it's slightly to the right, but in-game it doesn't have any effect unless you are playing a surf map, with huge distances. The scout, however, shot slightly to the right. And as you can see from the radar, I'm in the CT spawn, so the distance isn't all that great. When shooting at longer distances, the amount of innaccuracy ranges from that to about 1-2 lengths of a head, so it does, in fact, affect the ability to get headshots. Also take note that the AWPs zoom is slightly more powerful.

Obviously, I didn't count in how much accuracy is affected when crouched. Crouching does improve the range a lot, but from experience I can say it doesn't quite rival that of the AWP. Besides, a lot of the time the sniper has to stand, so crouching shouldn't be a deciding factor.

Re: AWPs

ya i wasnt really thinking about longer distances. The awp would win hands down in that case. Also what about on really large maps adding one auto sniper to the map? would that also ruin the gameplay?

Re: AWPs

Well, snipers are rarely used at close range

I don't know about autosnipers. They aren't really useful at really long ranges. Maybe if you could have a scout or an autosniper...

Re: AWPs

Now now I say no awps just for the fact that I don't want to give Evil Element an awp. Hes already lethal with the scout alone.

Re: AWPs

Also the Scout is more accurate while running. Nearly all my scout shots will be while I am moving adding two benefits, 1st I can cross distances while covering and 2nd I am harder to hit by the enermy sniper. This alone makes it better than the AWP in my eyes, I would take adapability over a very slight range anyday.

Re: AWPs

I agree with poodle. A lot of public servers result in a LOT of people with awps. More than would be realistic, but they want that one shot kill.

If we did allow awps, it would only be one. Heck.. I THINK the Ts can get one on the as_oilrig map, right? (they pick it up somewhere?)

But I think the scout is enough. 1 shot kill on head, 2 shot kill to body. That's a good enough sniper weapon, IMO.

(although I do like the auto sniper, even if it isn't as accuarte... I just think it's cool).

No they don't pick it up anywhere. AWPs are part of original as_ map weapon limitations. Ts originally were only allowed AWPs and AKs. Thats it. So if I'm on and an as_ map comes on.. you better believe Im gonna let one of those bad boys off restriction

Re: AWPs

I've always hated the Awp and never used them.
But I vote to bring 'em back. At least one per team.
