Ok... I've learned a couple of things so far.
1) I suck.
2) I can't tell the enemies from the friendlies.
3) Even when I can, I can't shoot worth a darn.
Here's hoping time and patience will pay off.

Carefullness beats skillfullness. Remember that. Even the player with the most hacker-like reflexes can't shoot you first if you can come from behind.

Trying to take away our fun?
Welcome to our server. Just be sure to speak up and say you are new. You'll get help from your team.
If you don't know the map, then either stay near someone who will help you (if on offensive) or stay near the defense site (hostages or bomb site).
When you die, switch to free view mode (by hitting space a couple of times) and 'fly' around the map to learn it. It will take a while because we have a lot of maps and some of them are big.
WELCOME! I look forward to 'accidentally' team killing you!"Sympathy means a lot, coming from Kulmar. I didn't think it was possible.
Good luck getting rid of your disease. If you're infected, though, stay away--I can't afford to be a zombie right now.

WElcome aboard draeh. To be honest, the very things you mentioned are some of the reasons I got hooked on this game over 8 yrs ago. Dont worry, you will learn the skins and how to handle the weapons. Some advice I can give you about firing, recoil is a bitch! Take it into account and prepare your shots accordingly. Take your time and fire with precision. Dont spray until you are comfortable doing it, or unless you have no choice. Start with SMGs like the MP5 or p90. These are good weapons to get used to at first. But above all, make absolutely sure you listen to your teammates and pay attention to whats going on and where they are. There is nothing wrong with being in the middle or back of the pack whilst you get your bearings.

Gotcha. I play a lot of 2142 and my weapon of choice is the Baur heavy assault rifle. It kicks like a mule. So, I'm used to recoil. My problem (which will only be solved by time and practice) is seeing the enemy before they see me.
I'm having to retrain my peripheral vision. I'm so used to the BF series minimap being on the right, that I hardly ever notice the map unless I force myself to look at it. Again, practice will help with that.
Don't take my post as being despondent, I'm not. I had a lot of fun last night even though I got my a$$ handed to me most of the time.
