Well I can't hear myself through my mic at all anymore, muted microphone in the audio settings, but people still say it echoes what I am hearing.

They use high quality hardware in general. Dell laptops (consistently the lowest quality on the market aside from HP/Compaq) always have Clefspeare's problem, for example, because not much thought is put into the sound card selection. Good choice with the T60p; I have a regular T60.

thanks ed, yeah, it wasnt really my choice, it was the top line school laptop back in 07... I think i paid right at 2400 total for it, with 4 years of insurance, support, and some free software, i think it was a good deal at the time! :-)

Mine is still running strong. My friend's stepdad worked for IBM when I got mine so I got about $1500 off in an employee discount. With all the options, it was supposed to be about $2800.
