    Problem starting TG server.

Ok so Steam came out with a new update. Took me a while to download. When it was finally finished, I couldn't access the server. It doesn't give me a reason or error. It just simply doesn't connect. I was wondering if anyone else has this problem. It could be Steam, my Steam client, I don't know. I didn't try to connect to any other server.

i have no idea, the same thing happened to me. judging by my css in game home screen, the update was pretty serious. it looks like the css beta is no longer a beta and is now fully integrated in to the real css. is there any thing that can be done?

You're not the only one, don't worry.

This is what it says under console:
    "
    Connecting to 75.125.97.200:27015...
    Invalid Steam key size.
    "

    anyone know?

Server is down as Vulcan has said until further notice. There are a lot of major plugin updates and editing of old software to do with the new CS:S Client. Hang tight it will be up as soon as possible.

after you made your post about the server requiring a major update, vulcan, the server was up and populated running a purely vanilla version of the game. however, at some point, it went down again, which is what nomad was wondering about. now, if you were the one that took it down to do script editing, map installation, etc., then fine. but it wasnt announced when the server was brought down and has been down for over 24 hours. several people were wondering exactly what happened. thus why nomad posted.

so without some kind of announcement that you brought the server down at that time to begin the upgrades, or some other word from on high, the rest of the community was left in the dark. based on that alone, the snappy attitude is unnecessary. it's completely reasonable for the people who populate the server on a DAILY BASIS to be concerned when the server goes down and nobody in charge says word one about it until after its been down for over a day.

matter of fact, nomad informed me over steam yesterday that suid was unaware if you, vulcan, knew that the server was down. so your own admin staff didnt even know what was going on. so please, dont get mad at the community when you fail to make things clear.

Ferris: according to Vulcans post he did make it aware to everyone including nomad that "it will take time" and "He'll do his best to get it up asap." This is the weekend and we are doing the best we can do get everything up and running, so please don't try to cause trouble here.

    Re: Problem starting TG server.

my post was just to let vulcan know that the sever crashed again and if he anyone knew why. It wasn't the fact that i didn't read it, i did and was trying to be helpful and inform. I was playing on the tg server after vulcan got it up the first time, then it crashed. after it crashed i posted the crash and was just wondering why. That's it

Actually suid, the post that vulcan made about getting the server asap was made on the 23rd (wednesday) at about 8:44 pm eastern. AFTER that post was made, and as I said in my previous post, the server WAS UP, albeit running completely vanilla CS:S. Then, nomad posted two full days later, that being yesterday, that the server was down again with no explanation.

So your argument is null. Vulcan said he would get the server up ASAP and apparently did. Then it went down again with no explanation. Nomad informed me that you didnt even know if vulcan knew the server was down, so I fail to see why you're rushing to the defensive seeing as you were just as much in the dark as everyone else was.

Furthermore, the issue I brought up was with the attitude of the response. Nomad's post which vulcan snapped at him for was a completely valid question relating to a server outage that occurred more than two days after vulcan's post, meaning that it was a NEW issue and very valid. If you dont agree, I would ask what kind of timeframe we should rely on for old posts being valid? A week, two weeks, a month?

As I said previously, these are the guys keeping the community alive. They are the ones playing on the server EVERY DAY. They are the ones instructing the new players in how TG does business, seeing as (exempting the two or three temp admins we have) the admin staff's action on the server is few and far between. They are the backbone of this community and are being left in the dark because people are busy. Fine, busy is understandable. Weekends are understandable. Real life happens and should always take precedence over the virtual world. However, that is NO EXCUSE for talking down to the people who are keeping this title alive at TG. They deserve better because they've EARNED it.

So with that being said, we're all looking forward to the server being back at 100%. Thats going to take time, we understand that. But once in a while, letting people know what's going on in some fashion other than "we're busy and it'll get done when it gets done" isnt a lot to ask for. If it is too much to ask for, then the people who are supposed to be doling out said information might want to consider whether or not they really want the responsibility of doing so anymore.
