Re: Cheating
I can tell you for a fact that the TGS guys do not condone ghosting then relaying info via TS.
It's a fact that it's going to happen but not by these (us) guys.
As there is no way to stop it it is in fact a point of honor.
If rushing and blatantly ignoring the server rules gets out of hand then any admin should just stop taking crap and start kicking/temp banning.
At some point the ignored warnings are ineffectual and it's time to lay the smack down.

Re: Cheating
ok so anyway.. what are we gonna do about this problem we are having?
in the afternoon to late evening hours we dont have a huge problem usually, (although admins tend to be hastey and warn to many times and not put their foot down),
its in the later half of the night (past kiddie bedtimes) that problems arise! ..
Would it be wise to request the time schedule most admins would be present so we can get an idea on who we should be directing actions from? .. maybe we could find out who plays the latest ad give out a few temp admin passes for a few of those late night guys so they can help out when the "main" are not present...
another idea is can we have a more clear cut and more visible rules section at the load up of server.. ya'know.. that dreaded splash screen you get on some servers... there should be a way to add a time limit to it so that it stays up a bit longer so they HAVE to read the rules before joining a team.. then obviously state that " by clicking ok to join a game you agree and will abide by server rules or you will be removed after first warning" .. then you guys wont have to feel so bad about it
..
anyone ever miss what a "console god" says sometimes.. in the bottom left hand corner while playing.. im sure it just goes by as another anonymous chat line to some..
is there not a way to make 'console speak' pop up bigger brighter maybe even else where besides the chat lines? .. maybe in the middle of the screen even..
just a few ideas there to clear cut some of these issues we are having..
*breaks for a cigerette and a drink*
and hello again
back on topic and without further delay.. are there map plans from over head where one might draw actual lines showing the bounderies on each map.. so everyone has access and no one is without question.. we could poste some here on the TG website..
i wish there was a way to splash them on each map loadup.. that would be awsome..
each map having its on.. well... "over head map" before entrance.. whatta ya think... possible???
okey dokey smokey.. enjoy your read? i hope so.. let me know what ya think about some of these "issues" .. yay.. see you ingame (eventually)

Re: Cheating
Scoop, read the thread again. Really. You missed a rather salient point.

Again, this whole thread would be moot by turning the free cam off. Even in DC, BFv, the free cam blows. You work you a$$ off to find a nice place to do your buisness, then hit your target. You just know the guy is free camming to find your position. Two minutes later, he is right on top of you. Go figure! As for banning Team Speak, well we all know thats impossible, as it is a tool of most hardcore gamers. So that brings us back to the honour system. I guess we have to have faith in our fellow gamer, or turn the free cam off.

As for turning off free cam, that's not an option as it would leave admins with no way to keep an eye on anyone.
If an option becomes available to allow admins free cam while restricting others then I say we only allow ghosting of teammates without a free cam option.

Re: Cheating
I'm reading and learing.
I would hope free cam doesn't go away. I watch and learn from you guys that are better (everbody ;-) ) and get to witness different styles of play... DeRanger vs... Tempus or whatever...
Secondly Drag fessed up... that's worth something...
This is a game, it's supposed to be fun. I'm too new to comment on the subtleties of the argument, but it's like any other game, on some level honor and sportsmanship are required.
I like to communicate a little on the mic in the game, but have to admit, I was on between 1 and 2 am this past Saturday, and there was so much moronic babbling from kids up past their bedtime, that I couldn't have communicated if I wanted to!
I'm here to have fun (and get even with DeRanger for 3+ f*&^ing headshots to my dumb**s self last night)

Re: Cheating
Oh and one stupid question.....
How do I PM to an admin "in-game"?

Re: Cheating
As of yet there is no private 'player-to-admin speak'.
I think that going into every map and making an exact line on the ground for a "no rush zone" or whatever is kind of tacky. It would be better to just thin out those who are breaking the rule(s). Even if you don't have admin, complain to said rulebreaker every offence. As a team, camp spawn for a little while so s/he gets no backup and dies. This we can just do as a community.
As for illegal use of TeamSpeak, very hard to detect. There's a lot of conditions that have to be right to even properly accuse someone of this. Back in my admin days, I checked for this but never caught anyone. I'm not sure if anyone wants to hear my method, and it's been a while since I've been on the 'beat'. I'll start retrying it and maybe post it later.

Re: Cheating
I regretfully am not a supporting member, but I have played here for a very long time and hope my opinion counts at least a little when I say the server is worse off without DeRanger as an admin. There are some good admins on the server but none as willing to promote PCS as him. Sure he can be a pain and ruffle some feathers, but an admins responsiblity is to protect our style of play, not be everyones friend that gives one guy 10 or 12 console warnings only to have to do it again when the map changes. If you have a problem player get rid of him. A lot of people will say that we are having a large influx of players from public servers and that we should give them a chance, but let's face it folks, this aint rocket science.

Re: Cheating
So, what you're saying is although Cing has indicated that the use of TS is cheating you guys will continue to use it because it is virtually impossible to tell and you're such honorable guys that we'll just have to trust you completely? That's nice... what a load of crap. Great to make your own rules eh?

Cing did not say using TS was cheating.

Re: Cheating
Geez DeRanger. Because you personally think no one should ever use TS we should all bow to your judgement and never again use an excellent program we have come to love?
We don't cheat... with or without TS. PERIOD!
As Wyzcrak said, using TS was not deemed cheating.
It can be used in that manner but we don't do that.
Anyone can come to the TGS TS anytime they want and have a listen.
I don't know why you've chosen to attack me at every opportunity but feel free to get over yourself.
