LOL ...and after a day of predominantly rushmatching, "team deathmatching" and learning of people cheating with TS because one of them didn't feel like admin'ing the server properly.

    Right back at ya'!

    Re: Cheating

Alright fellas. We don't need this thread to be a flame war.

DraG made a mistake.... he fessed up to it. The admin's are going to take care of that. There is no excuse for what he did and at the same time, there is no reason to isolate and flame him.

I'm sure at one time or another, many of us here have crossed that fine line of not playing PCS style. Some may have even crossed into that dark area of cheating. Hopefully everyone can learn from their and other's mistakes and all work towards keeping situations like this from arising and make the TG server a better server.

    Let's be constructive here.

    Re: Cheating

The admin's have discussed the ghosting. There are pros and cons of having it. Having it allows for the admin's to actually perform some of their duties. If it is restricted, then it makes it more difficult for us to admin. Another good reason to have it is for those players who want to learn. As someone mentioned earlier, they can learn a lot by ghosting a few players who play PCS style. And of course, we've seen what the negative side can be.

I was playing along and trying to support my team, not wanting to sit in spawn and make a plan for myself by myself I went with the crowd, am never happy about having to play like that and am sick of it. That is representative of how the server has gotten completely out of hand sometimes, the rushing is rampant and the admins are the only ones responsible for allowing the play to continually degrade in this manner. Many of the admins play like this regularly and I have no idea why, nor do I give a **** anymore.

Aside from the bomb being dropped I don't recall being up there four times so you must be exagerating and somewhat dillusional in your time of crisis. It doesn't really matter though, you're the admin, why didn't you do anything about it or start warning people? Why did you let the rushing get out of hand in the first place? Aside from coming through the middle a few times to assist the other side the CTs were certainly not "rushing" the Ts if that's what you're getting at.

All or most of the other admins think chronic offensive rushing is just fine evidently, did you ever talk to them in the "admin" forum about your concerns? I've tried but found it futile so go cry to your admin buddies.

Offensive rushing necessitates defensive rushing which turns the so-called PCS server into a frickin' joke but please, anyone feel free to flame me if you want because I'm just whining due to "things not going my way".

    Weren't you leaving anyway?

    Re: Cheating

That's enough of this bickering. My only purpose in starting this thread was to ensure that everyone here realized that communicating other players' locations to live players via other forms of communication aka "ghosting" is a form of cheating and that it's not allowed here at TacticalGamer.

I don't want anyone to stop playing here. I wasn't trying to get anyone to confess. I simply wanted to clarify so that it wouldn't happen again. From this point on, you've been warned, however... Ghosting is cheating. Cheating will get you banned from TG. End of story.

Say it aint so joe... my newest and most favorite servers are in turmoil...I hope this all ends in a big group hug followed up by an epic marathon of TG style counter strike, yours truly invited of course. (I don’t mean to belittle the issue)

On a side note..Since playing on your servers, I can’t stand playing anywhere else. Nothing aggravates me more than getting killed by some seven year old(no offense to seven year olds) as I turn the corner to the market in Italy. Or as Ts, watching my ENITRE team disappear leaving me alone to protect the hostages.

I used to admin on BF1942 server and I would never just kick a smacktard, I would warn them once then Ban them. I found this method most effective and therapeutic.

No, no turmoil. A small problem that has been taken care of.

I first started playing CounterStrike in 2000 and just a few weeks after I started playing, I found this community via alt.games.half-life.counterstrike. Not being able to play anywhere else is a sometimes unfortunate side affect of becoming addicted to our unique style of play. The only known treatment is to simply stick around and try to spread the disease!

Mirrors my experience 4 months ago... occasionally go out into the deathmatch wasteland but keep on wanting to come back to TG

    Question Re: Cheating

I don't remember which night, but I saw deranger getting screwed over by his team the other night, and us CT's were getting wiped out by rushers. I can totally understand him.

Question though - if the team plan is to rush and plant fast, and that plan is executed, doesn't that come under the heading of PCS? And if that plan works, is it still PCS to repeatedly execute the same plan? This isn't a dig at anyone, it's a genuine question about what is and isn't PCS.

    Yes, it is.

But that's just my opinion. But then, that's all PCS is, too often... opinions. What matters most is which opinion is adopted by the majority and/or the admin(s) involved at the time.

    It's a harsh reality, but it's reality.

Apophis stated a summary of older rules/guidlines from the old N42/PCS server in the "PCS No Go LInes" thread. Point 3 addresses your question:

"3) Rushing by either the defensive OR offensive team on a repeated basis was considered bad form. The rounds do NOT have to end within the first 60 seconds. It would be common for the offensive team to sometimes hold back up to 2 minutes before they ever even made their initial assault. Getting multiple fire teams into position, yet out of sight, before they made their move."

So, rush once in a while to mix things up, good for you. Rush is your only tactic? Sad, not PCS.

Of course, that is from old guidelines, but they are all still relevent in their intent to promote tactical(and fun) play.
