Re: 45 Second Buy times

I agree on the 45 seconds... a tad too long... especially when it's just a few players in the servers, IE the AM or late night...

Waiting 10 seconds is too long for me.. it takes me less than a split second to buy all my gear. 5 years of the buttons will do that to ya.

Although, discussing for 10-30 seconds is definately not a bore, depends on the teams and the map really. I mean, you can't really do much more than say A or B on some maps... Especially dust... most that can be said is, "I'll go long, you go short.."

Lol...

But 20-30 seconds would be perfect for the above posted. It would discourage a lot of idiots from playing, as the wait time would get annoying to them.

Perhaps we should double it to twenty seconds and see how it works? We can always adjust it again if it's too much or not enough...

Agreed. If there's no complaint between now and then, I'll do this tomorrow evening.

Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Root: Welcome to TG. Feel free to punctuate your sentences correctly. Monkerz: Its gonna take all my skills to beat those boys off in the future.

Re: 45 Second Buy times

Rooty and Yer Mom bring up some valid points, which I would have to agree with. However, 45 secs really is just too long. 20 secs=perfect IMHO Sometime or another we all lag a little behind and need that extra 2 secs to get our gear bought. I know I always forget to buy a kit, (trying to fix that) Instead of running out of spawn to turn around half way to bombsite to buy a kit wastes time, lost of it, this may/may not cost you and your team all of their lives and the objective. I know what your thinking, but I have done this b4. Seems to me like w/o a kit the thing never defuses, with a kit its probably just right, planting seems to quick though. Perhaps if we could adjust these things along with freeze time? BTW, the whole defusing thing was brought to my attention by Ghostintheshell. Good idea!

Re: 45 Second Buy times

Hey, I just saw this thread under Similar Threads and though of another idea: is there any possible way of increasing the freeze time for the Attacking team and keep it normal for the defending team? That way, everyone could be in place when the round "officially" starts. If the defending team is supposed to be defending against something, they wern't dropped out of a helicopter at the same time and then someone said "go", the defending team would already be there and set up, ready to fend off the attack.

That would be nice and allow us to play maps that weren't thoughtfully designed, but honestly I don't think it's possible.

So, 45 seconds is perfect for S1. Last night I played Italy, and as soon as I could buy my wepons, people were running off to apts, mid, and LH. I had no time to control my team, and it was chaos. Everyone kept dying without a plan. I was angry, and hope to see the freeze time increased to 30 seconds if not 45, how could anyone plan tactics, offensivly or defensivly, if there is only 10 seconds to control a group of pubbies, or TGers that dont feel like planning.

Re: 45 Second Buy times

20 seconds of buy time is nothing.

Once they get the weapons, the buy time is over, and everyone is off to the races without a plan.

Root put the long buy in there to discourage this behavior, and it works. People have to sit still and at least LISTEN to the Bomber/Captain/Admin/PCS player that is calling the play.

One way I tell if someone is going to be a problem is if they have a problem with the time assigned to plan. 100% of the time, the person that says "45 sec.? WTF?" ends up with a kick/ban (80%), or removes themself from the server (20%). Either way, it works for me.

If you are a PCS player, you understand that it gives you more time to plan. And *gasp* a backup if things fall apart.

To my mind, PCS is not about the instant gratification of the kill, but the achieving of the objective. If you are planning how to achieve the objective, then what's the rush?

Re: 45 Second Buy times

can't argue with that

i agree with the 45 seconds, sure it's long, but it does force some planning, or it gets rid of the non-PCS players for a moment, if at all

the last time i was on the server with the 45 second time, planning happened every round, so as far as i see it, the longer time is working

Re: 45 Second Buy times

Not only did I like the 45 seconds of freeze time, I also liked the PW on s1. I found the overall gameplay better too.
