It's likely that page_admin will be sometimes unavailable this afternoon or this evening. I'll be doing some upgrades to the box on which it runs (not the CSS box). By late tonight it'll be back up and running for sure, and the amount of downtime it experiences at all is more than likely to go completely unnoticed. Just FYI.

page_admin is good and all, but recently there's been an influx in "jackoff" players while the admins are nowhere to be found. Most of the frequent players do tell them the rules, but some persist in screwing around and disobeying, because they're too immature to behave without proper supervision.

Any ideas of a possible fix for this? I'd help like to help think of some sort of ideas. Earlier I was thinking that the temp admin would be good, that I think wyz said in the first post, preferably someone that frequents/knows the rules of the server. Just a suggestion though, you(the admins) may feel the amount of admins right now is of a sufficient amount.

Is page_admin not working for you? How many times have you paged an admin and not had one respond?

I want people to read and understand how to use the page_admin option effectively. Admin's receive email and IMs from this command. Please learn to write clear and concise messages. I don't want to see "WE NEED ADMINS NOW" in the message. That doesn't tell us anything. And please, do not spam using the page_admin. Two messages should be sufficient to make sure the message got out.

The spamming on top of the unclear messages will do nothing other than to annoy the admin.

Could I second that, and also add that SHOUTING will not make us arrive faster. A message such as "page_admin wyzcrak is using a speedhack" will get us there just as quick, if not quicker, than something like "page_admin OMG WYZ IS SPEEDHACKING"

Could I also add, that it's not wise to upset a wookie. In the same spirit, it's not wise to tell an admin what to do. "JEFF SPEEDHACKS. Kick hiM!" for example, tells us information we need - a user called jeff is speedhacking, but also tells us what to do about it - kick him. The SHOUTING is just plain uncalled for.

We (the admins) do our best to respond quickly. I'm fortunate enough to have a laptop as well as a PC, so my response time can usually be measured in seconds from *receiving* a page if I'm playing at the time. Note that it can take a while for a page to get to our inboxes and chat clients.

Please bear in mind that all the admins (except Wyz

) have a life away from TG, and that we're not paid to be admins. We have no obligation to provide 24/7/365 cover. We do the best we can. Its in no way my place to speak for Apophis or Wyz, but I would be surprised if they aren't constantly on the lookout for additional measures to help deal with trouble makers, thus making your gaming experience with us that much better.

I've had to disable page_admin, as it causes server instability after the most recent Steam update. I hope to have it back on the server soon.
