Hunted was a Team Fortress map based around a bunch of snipers trying to kill the "pres." (President, suite, civy, whatever). The pres, along with a group consisting of Medics, Soldiers, and Heavy Weapon guys (different classes in TFC), had to push through the map to the extraction point.

The twist? The pres is played by an acutal person. He moves at a fair pace, has only 100 HP (no armor) and is armed with an umbrella only. So, you aren't just letting down some random NPC when he dies. You let down a person. That map was some of the most fun I've ever had on TFC.

If you have HL, I recommend you DL TFC and try out the map (it comes with the game).

Just like cs1.6 VIP maps. oil rig for example.

I always liked VIP maps here at TG. Not so good on pubie servers. You need to PROTECT that vip, and the vip has to do his part too and not walk out into the open and die, and also get to his extraction point.

Re: People want a good URBAN map

hmm i like the VIP idea but let's stick to the urban map idea for now.

Can somebody get me some screenies of basrah on DC?

Maybe we can make a VIP, DE or CS map all from a map designed around basrah.

Re: People want a good URBAN map

The airport terminal idea sounds cool. Also if you've played black hawk down, which I deeply regret doing, there's a night mission to destroy a radio station. Change that to hostages maybe? A really big map would be cool - it would give offense more options, and defense would have some depth in which to set up ambushes and OP's. Imagine italy but with T's able to be assualted from all directions, or even make a map big enough for that then put the hostages right at the end like they are in italy.

Mom's idea of having random routes like in havana would be good too, but if the maps to be bigger, we'd need more routes available every time.

Re: People want a good URBAN map

Is there a way that to create a map were the objective is to move a VIP type person from point A to point B without them being assassinated by the terrorist. The person would spawn with the CTs and the goal is to protect the target and get them to a safe house location (or two like defuse). The terrorist are trying to stop the CTs or just kill the target.

I dunno...may work...does this sound interesting?

haha....i should have read the above posts....sorry

Re: People want a good URBAN map

you have just described to a T, a VIP map in old CS...i dont think they exist on source because, (aside from a couple like oilrig) they were incredibly unpopular....consequently they got the boot. However, they would be excellent for TG-style play...

furthermore, there used to be ESCAPE style maps where one team (the Terrorists) wouldnt be armed...they could only have the weapons they spawned with...there would be some along the way but you had to escape from the CTs using your wits instead of firepower.... also very unpopular and were dropped....

anyone else played since beta 4?

this is the hospital VIP urban map i was speakin gof to you vulcan... this is from Americas Army... here's the run down and a over head map.. it is/was one of the MOST popular maps and hardest to get onto a good server because they were always packed!..

take a looksee... as it doesnt HAVE to be a VIP map.. we could make it a hostie map if we wanted.. or DE... eitehr one.. check the website for details..

Re: People want a good URBAN map

also.. this was a popular one.. with a "bomb the helicopter" and rescue the "hostie" objective.. check it out.. obviously it could be planed either way and still be great because it had a wonderful layout as well.. many routes and
Americas Army is definative with teamwork.. because no-one man or two.. and sometiems even three cant cover enough angles to really get and edge without leaving a hole open.. i loved AA for these ideals! \

Re: People want a good URBAN map

Bring back VIP maps to CS!

If you are still looking for ideas for urban maps, look at recent conflicts. Loads of hostages have been captured in Iraq, and plenty of targets bombed by insurgents e.g. an oil pipeline or refinery. You could also do something similar set in Kabul, Afghanistan. What about a de_ map where the CTs were the bombers? e.g. blowing up poppey fields in the Golden Triangle. Or a VIP map where Ts were trying to get Osama/ Sadam to safety. A Palestine/Israel map could see Ts bombing an army checkpoint. Hostage rescue in Kosovo or Somalia, to prevent genocide could be possible. There are a suprisingly large number of real world scenarios that haven't been touched on by mappers.

I few ,aps you may want to check out
Blackhawkdown-looks like the movie, kind of. I dont think the map has bomb sites or hostages.
de_congo-a really neat map with very lond shots and extream elevation changes, again not sure about the objective on this one either.

Re: People want a good URBAN map

de_congo was horrid for source, you talking about a cs 1.6 version?

Lots of scenarios to go on, its more of can we make VIP maps for cs: s. I have a map design drawn up for a modern urban map atm. The same design can be twisted up for other urban settings too, its easy to draw up a level design, so just need real life pictures to go from.

Re: People want a good URBAN map

How hard is it to take an existing map and change it from de to cs or vice versa? Is it simple?

Re: People want a good URBAN map

cing if the map allows for that kind of switch. Usually when switching you have to have a place to put the objective and reasonable tactics for it being there.
