Last night was a perfect example of Ender's point. When I joined the game and we were playing this one map, it was 4 cts vs 3 ts. And to be honest, I would say that the ct team had most of the talent. Yet the Ts won 9-3.......

What is talent without discipline?

Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Zephyr: Apophis is clearly a highly sophisticated self-aware AI construct that runs on a highly modified toaster oven in Wyzcrak's basement.

Ender, you're either missing Nothing's point, or falling victim to the self-mutilation of your own reply. I'm not sure which. Nothing is pointing out the fact (not the opinion) that one man can win THE ENTIRE MATCH for his team. He listed exceptions, and they're not to be overlooked.. but they're exceptions to be sure.
My force in NS is nothing more than other players' respect for my talent in seeing the game develop in real time and then guiding my team based on that foresight. I've never won an entire match without assistance from my team, ever..... and you know it. In CS, any player can be nullified, instantly, by a player whose location I don't even know. It happened several times last night, and it will happen several times every night. Even with Team A communicating the location(s) of Team B's remaining threat(s), and even with Team B's threat(s) adhering to what little of the map they're often bound to by PCS rules, such communication is an imperfect one. There's nothing imperfect about a headshot. You're dead.
If I want to "make a difference," as you say, I'll go volunteer for the Special Olympics. That's not what Nothing is saying. He's saying that one player can win the match. And he's right. :? I guess you could argue that headshots and individual skill don't often enough win the game alone to matter, but an argument that this isn't a threat to the game's re-playability doesn't (yet?) hold water with me.

But CS is a round based game, so just because 1 player killed the entire team in 1 or 2 rounds doesnt mean that he alone "won the entire match".
Thats the key difference between both games and why I didnt want to get into an argument over this. Counter-Strike is a round based game, so yes, for 1 or 2 rounds a players skill does come into play and he could potentially wipe the floor with his enemies, but thats where the tactics come in. See thats the great part with CS is, tactics and strategy change from round to round, so what works on one round wont work in the next. The one player who completely dominated for 1 or 2 rounds can be completely useless in the next do to the varying tactics.
I totally got what he was trying to say, and to a certain extent I do agree with him. A player could win an entire round by themselves, but 1 round doesnt determine the match. Thats what you need to realize. Tactics will always over come.
I am all fine with not liking the game, hell I dont even like the game any more, but dont come in here and say "well its a fact that 1 player could win the entire match" because its simply not true. One player can be good for 1 round, hell even 2 rounds, but a team winning the entire match because of 1 guy is silly.

I suppose if people are just wandering around the map willy-nilly, that would be a different story...Become a supporting member!

I didn't like NS. I just didn't like that game style. Nothing personal one way or the other. Half-life just has it's weaknesses. I mainly left CS to play GR. Just because it has the ability to have TvT or missions 0- and you can create your own missions, or modify existing ones. You can also change/create different weapons much easily then you can in half-life.
I still love CS. If I see someone on the server, I immediately join that, even if it means leaving GR. I played a little today with britney and red eye. It was a blast.
I think when half-life 2 comes out, things will change some, but don't know for sure.
(FYI: My not liking NS may also have to do with the bad feeling I got in my mouth when I tried playing the first time - on the TG server - and got insulted left and right, but that was an freak occurence I believe - nothing to do with NS as a game.)"Sympathy means a lot, coming from Kulmar. I didn't think it was possible.
Good luck getting rid of your disease. If you're infected, though, stay away--I can't afford to be a zombie right now.

Agreed, i thought CS n00bs are treated bad untill i tried NS... The funny thing was, EVERYONE was a n00b when it was only 2 weeks after the bloody release. yet the kiddies playing it thought they was 1337 pros or something.
