Re: Present admin and server loss...

Is there any way to only let people with a forum account on the servers? I know this sounds extreme but every other server out there is a deathmatch server so new people think your crazy when you tell them to defend(camp). I think if you made it just a tad bit harder for people to get on the server you could weed out a lot of the weenies. It seems like the guys who are really opposed to the tactical style play leave anyways once the rules are clearly explained. Just trying to think of a way to filter these people out before they get in at all.

By the way. Been playing on these servers for a few weeks now and have to say they frickin rock. Keep up the good work guys.

If you had been unable to join the TG server without registering in the forums, would you ever have played on our server?

CD.

On NS, if you don't have CD, it spams you like mad telling you to get it or die.

Why not have a message that says, "Sign up at our forums to continue to play."

Maybe have a limit on time to play, like CD, before they sign up at the forums. That way, all the idiots will be delt with in time, and the people who enjoy the server will simply go to the forums.

Possibly an hour? Maybe 2?

Up to the admin, of course.

If this is possible, it would be WELL worth working for it.

Re: Present admin and server loss...

xero, admin tools for Source are still in their infancy. They'll have to mature before the application of them toward our server can.

No ETA, I'm afraid, but things will get cooler as time goes on. In the meantime, I'm "this close" to having what I *think* is a very satisfactory solution for supporting members to keep the servers "clean" when admins aren't available. More details when I can confidently give them (and not sooner).

Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Root: Welcome to TG. Feel free to punctuate your sentences correctly. Monkerz: Its gonna take all my skills to beat those boys off in the future.

Re: Present admin and server loss...

It sounds like this is a very noticed problem, and I just wanted to offer my humble suggestion as to a possible temporary solution:

Privatize Server 2 again (but in a different way): Instead of limiting who can be on the server, make the password change daily and post that password on a sticky in the CS forum or maybe a link to it on the homepage, thus meaning that someone has to have gone to the forum to get the password for the day to use the server (and hopefully get a lesson in PCS rules in the process). I know the password-protected server may not get as much action, but I know that I would try and join there if there was a group playing in the TG style that we know and love. I don't know how it would all work together (or if the Server 2 would just go unused again), but I know that there is a demand for the kind of gameplay we talk about on the forums, so incorporating the forums in getting to play should be natural.

Re: Present admin and server loss...

Nobody plays on the servers when they are private.. Nobody wants to be the first in the server and wait around for 6-8 more TGers to show up. It does not happen.

When temp admins are available, this will all go away.

Yea, there's no Rave Room in CS:S. Another reason to play NS.

Re: Present admin and server loss...

Wyz is working on something, we'll have to be satisfied with that, constricting people from the servers will only make our community grow stagnant, we want new members (although you guys are all great...like when root says "yer mom") but anyway, Temp admin seems to be the best possible solution and steam/valve being the slackers they are (like with the hostage A.I.) it dosent seem a solution will be had any time soon, but im confident in wyz and the others to help us with our problem. We just have to be patient and tolerate the fraggers for now, root has said he will try to be more active in the server and thats about as good as it will get until we're offered a permanent solution. Be patient, pestering the admins won't speed anything up.
